Im going to ask another question, I have gotten some really great advice on crate training and my 3 month old pup is doing well in this department.
I am feeling very tired and at my wit's end. It seems I am always having to watch him to make sure he's not chewing on my table legs and other things that could hurt him, and let him out every half hour..sometimes he barks and Im not sure if he needs to pee or if he's just being abnoxious. He cries when Im not playing with him (I work at home most of the week and I work a little in the kitchen where he is penned to spend more of the day with him) This slows me down ALOT and I feel like I can't focus on anything but him. Oh..and im also trying to get him and my 5 year old cat to tolerate eachother, and hopefully one day be friends?? I feel absolutely aweful about how tired Im feeling...I don't know if I could stand this for his whole 16 years, I've never raise a puppy before and now Im terrified what 'high energy' dog will mean for the long term....my question is....does anyone know if he eventually become easier to manage??? I mean, could anyone work and take care of a toddler for 16 years or are there blessed people out there who can!?!?!!

Hes just a baby, relax. Try taking him for more walks. When you get up, after lunch, and after supper. Try getting a kong and filling it with peanut butter then put it in the freezer. Once the peanut butter is frozen give it to him, it should keep him busy. I was in the same situation with Mollie the terror, but shes two now and has calmed down quite a bitl. Good luck and don't give up.

Ok, must be strong...haha. I do have a kong toy and put peanut butter in it but didn't freeze it! I'll definately do that.

Gardeena..hang in there...it will get better :) My parents at the age of 63 decided since they were retired it was time to get another dog (first one had died of old age years ago). My father had always wanted a Min Pin, my mother wanted another Chihuahua. After spending 6 months trying to convince the other they came across a Min Pin x Chihuahua...perfect...everyone wins :) They picked up this little 8 week old girl and called her Pixie. She is definately more like a Min Pin than a Chihuahua. WOW..I still to this day have never met a dog that was more tightly wound than this dog was lol. I don't think I ever saw her actually walk until she was a year old. She ran at lightening fast speeds day in and day out. I don't know why they bothered having a vacuum cleaner, this dog ate anything it could find on the floor. She regularly had loose stool and everytime they brought a sample in to the vet it was full of interesting things. They kept her closed off in the kitchen at night...she ate all the faux chrome off the bottom of the fridge. They moved her into their room and while they were sleeping at night she was busy under their bed eating the plastic from the bottom of the mattress :) EVENTUALLY she did get better. She is extremely bright and highly trainable and gives my parents so much joy in their lives. But there were times when I would go over and my mother with her bloodshot eyes would say "This isn't a dog for retired people" They love her to death and wouldn't give her up for the world...but it did take a few years for her to slow down. I wish them a healthy and long life...they have already said I have to take Pixie if something happens to them lol

I am sorry your pup is such a handful.

I just wanted to say that I think Pickle is a WONDERFUL name! It made me giggle, Good job on that one!

I have a wee little Min Pin (4lbs 3 oz) and she has enough energy for 10 dogs! I have a toybox in the livingroom full of toys that she loves to empty out. She will get her favorite and run up and down the hallway with it about 20 times before she even slows down. She is at the vet right now getting spayed. They said they wanted a video of her because she was bouncing up and down in her kennel. I sure hope that was before the spay or I will have my hands full when I get her home tomorrow morning! Anyways....the toys are a huge help in keeping her from chewing on everything else. I pick a few up for about a buck each every time I am at Walmart.

I LOVE IT !!! MORE MIN PINS!!! Penny used to be a handful. Rocko was never a handful. Lola is a handful (not a Min Pin) Just their own distinct personalities. With Penny, we tried everything!! Then we found that she likes plush plush toys...We get the ones that are hazard free...no buttons or anything she can swallow or choke on...She sits there for a while playing with them...runs around the house, we still have to keep an eye on her though just like with any other young pup or young child...but LOOONG walks, laps around the house and or yard, my other dogs, and her plush plush toy keep her calm and exhausted....Hope this helps and good luck!

THANKYOU everyone for all your encouragement and input, everylittle suggestion is helpful. Everything seems so much better now that he's calmed down after a nice long walk/jump/dig/sniff. He's a good boy. It's nice to know I can ask questions and talk to people who understand.

The first three years are the worst, LOTS of exercise and training. Games that keep them busy too! They just get better with age the more effort you put into them.

My grandparents had a min pin... Sis was a handfull. She was always in need of attention and she was a yapper... But she was a good dog and she was a great companion for them. Her yapping? Well... at least my hard-of-hearing grandparents knew when someone pulled into the driveway.

What you're going through - every new parent goes through (whether it's a baby or a puppy). Take a deep breath and a long walk - tire that puppy out then take a break for yourself. It will get better!

Min Pins are a high energy dog well into their teens. Though as they mature a bit, they will not necesarrily slow down, but will understand their boundaries more and settle into the routine you give them.
Very smart, highly trainable...problem is they are smart enough to train you first without you even realizing it!

That time os calming will come in time, then you will be ready for another one, lol.

my ex boyfriends have an 8 y/o female min pin who is more of a nut case and puppy-ish than both my 3 y/o eskies put together. :)

Thanks Dee! What you don't see from these pics is how many times I took her pic just to get the best ones (thank God for digital) and also the well placed treat for the attention she does manage to give me! She does hold more still when she is "dressed". I think this comes from when she was 15 ounces and I would put ferret sweaters on her. She was so tiny she would fall over on her side and lay there! Hilarious! I have many more outfits and will get more pics as soon as she is healed from her spay.

Eskiegirl~ I have to keep Tegan away from my Eskies because she terrorizes them. She pulls out their long tail hair and drives them crazy. They are hyper enough without her egging them on! They like to pounce on her and I am afraid they are going to hurt her since she is so small. When I travel (and I take all 3 of them too) I have to put a towel over her kennel to keep her from pulling out their fur before I get to my destination. I can tell when she gets the towel off. Kai whines because she is staring him down! I use her kennel to keep Kai and Kirra separated so they won't wrestle during the ride. There's never a dull moment in my house!

Anyone have any tips on how to get Pickle and my cat to get along?

I just took Pickle for a walk, he is very good at it already I must say. He is a little afraid of passing cars though.

Rocki and Tegan are both sooooooo adorable!!! Pickle is tan/red. I would post photos if I could.
