Will my Min Pin always be so high maintenance?
Pickle is tiring me out!

Hang in there! They do settle down. If we are watching t.v. my two will chase each other and then settle down for a nap. It takes about a year to stop the chewing. I just did not let them out of my sight. If they ran upstairs and did not come back, I would see what they were into. Now I don't have to worry. Still crate them when we go somewhere though.

We take 3 walks a day and also let them run around in the yard some. The exercise helps calm them down. That and a lot of socialization. Sometimes they are still too wild to handle but most of the time they are really good.

have 4 cats , pom and 1yr old min pin.
Ok.....first only 1 cat got along with Rocky.....now there is 2 the other two are old and really don't care to be pounced on LOL Gotta say it is hit or miss......Rocky has come a runnin MMMMOOOOMMMMA he has been popped in the nosed a few times but he'll learn.
The youngest "Hurbert" is the one the loves to romp and play and at nite the sleep together and the cat grooms the min pin......
I keep a watchful eye that Rocky doesn't bully thats what he loves to do bully push shove the others and I correct it

I have 3 mini pins and they are very busy dogs. I have Mini she is 2 years and Ace he is 1 year and I have their son Lil Ace he is 9 months. They have lots of toys and the kong works very well. I also let them out and they run and play with each other. This really gives them a work out. I also have a small swiming pool fill with childs play sand and I hide toys in it and they will dig for hours looking for the toys this keeps them busy for a long time also. I walk them 2 times a day. Mini is the oldest and she is slowing down she mostly watches Ace and lil Ace play. Maybe having more than one min pin helps. Hope this helps.

A tired Pickle is a happy Pickle. Maybe get acquainted with someone with an active small breed dog and set up some doggie play dates. I heard that's the "IN" thing to do, now days. Just like with kids.

Letting Pickle romp and play is good socialization with other dogs, tires him out, and makes the cat look less appealing to chase around.

Yeah, when pickle is tired, the cat seems to know and will walk around him but when he's awake..he stays the heck away! So, I'll keep up with the excersise and playing.

Dee...how old is your youngest cat? Did they click right from the start or was there a little hissing to begin with?

Hubert is around 4yrs old...and he loves to play Maggie is 5 Female.....thinks Rocky is a pain......Ali....female....10 forget it.....hiss hisss rocky has learned to stay away from her...Big Man is 10 handles him well....But Rocky's partner in crime is Hubert

Dee, that's very encouraging. Fingers (my cat) is a 5 year old male who LOVES to play. But it's only been 4 days since Pickles came home and Fingers hisses and runs away when pickles runs at him. He can be in the same area and even walk past him when pickles is tired. I sure hope one day they'll be as close as Hubert and Rocky.

Oh they will just give them a chance to....but have a spray bottle aimed and ready while they are trying to size each other up LOL
