Tonight I was on the phone with Pyrmom and I put my foot down to the floor, I felt some crumbled stuff. Upon closer inspection I realised it might be these cubes of mouse poisen I had put out some time ago. The are made by De-Con, they look like 1 inch square blocks of sawdust and glue. I was in such a panic, without Pyrmom's calm voice, I don't even think I could have functioned at all.
I called the 800 # for De-Con. They said it is an anti-coleagent, and thins the blood. She said to give him 2 tsp hydrogen poroxide to induce vomitting, then 4 tsp if that did not help. So I did, It took all 6 tsp before he vomitted, but when he did, it was plenty. I wore surgical gloves and examined the vomit for the poison. I couldn't identify any tho. So I am taking him to the vet in the A/M, which is what she said to do. I guess it is a slow acting thing, she said there is an antidote, Vitamin K1 and that with proper vetinary care he should be fine.
For future reference if anyone ever needs it the 800 # for the De-Con is 800-228-4722
the De-Con poison # is 800-338-6167
and the animal poison control # is 888-426-4435 this one charges $50.00 for a telephone consultation
thanks yall! He is eating right now. Emmanuel called a bit ago, he is at work. He said since he threw up so much to be sure he eats so he isn't hungry. I'm sure he is worrying like crazt too, he is worse than I am. Sadie needs to throw kisses Tsions way!
I know how scary that is. So sorry, hope everything is okay and your baby is fine. They had put some poison like that out at the grooming salon I worked at several years ago. I always took my little mini doxie to work with me, and the same thing happened to me, except it turned out that she had not got into it. Maybe your baby didn't either, hopefully. Let us know after you see the vet.
My bf's sisters dog (a yorki) ate about a quarter amount of rat poison. I called the poison center and the vet, even that amount wouldn't be toxic to a dog. We did give him charcoal tho. He didn't vomit, but since he ate so much wet food with the charcoal, he looked like a sausage.
I'm sure she'll post an update here as soon as possible, just wanted to give the early vet report so all will know Tsion is ok. I just got off the phone with Thlynda and despite being beat and emotionally wrung out all is well!
They're on their way home from the vet, all his labs check out fine (due to "mom's" fast actions last night) and he was given the Vit K1 shot antidote. Her boy should suffer no ill effects from his unwise "snacK".
