My black labrador named Chance needs something that won't make her stink. She'll sweat which will make the smell but I think that it's also natural B-O too. She also has very dry elbows. We don't know what to treat her with.
P.S. If anybody knows how to get rid of poopoo breath, it wouldn't hurt to tell me...
Dogs don't have sweat glands, so they can't sweat. They pant and drool to release heat from their body. My dog gets that puppy smell after a week, so I usually bathe him weekly and he is fine. The other night he got into something gross and wreaked, and someone here told me to bathe him with tomato juice or coffee grounds. I used coffee grounds and it worked great.
As for bad breath, they make breath freshening bones that I believe are supposed to be safe. Greenies are supposed to help bad breath too, but some people won't feed them to their dogs. They also make toothpaste and toothbrushes for dogs, the paste is beef flavored.
Go easy on the greenies if your dog is a gulper, they can and have caused intestinal blockages.
As for breath, I suggest you start giving a couple of raw meaty bones per week for her to gnaw on. They'll clean the teeth & freshen breath.
As for the dry elbow/skin, I don't know what you're feeding but many times changing to a premium food can do wonders. If already feeding a premium food, try adding fish oil capsules to the food or a supplement similar to Missing Link, Nupro, etc.
Mollie has poo breath too, so we give her those huge cow legs to chew on (cleans teeth too) and brush her teeth. You can even get mint flavored doggy toothpaste. As for greenies, it really makes their poo the same color as the bone.
