Hello, I am looking for someones help that knows or knows of anyone that has breed two puggles. I have done alot of researching and have found nothing. Is the only way a puggle is created is with a female beagle and a male pug or can two puggles have puggle babies without any problems? I have two beautiful pocket puggles male and female from two different breeders. I have several family members and friends that now want one and before I decide to get them fixed I was thinking of letting her have one litter. I would rather give them to my family and friends then having them go to some breeder and pay too much when they can have one for free.
Because of how genetics work, if you want a mixed dog that looks like a puggle you pretty much have to breed a beagle with a pug. The puggle is not a breed, it is a mixed breed, and as such it does not 'breed true' the way a purebred dog does. So if you breed two puggles you are liable to get puppies that look more beagle ish, or ones that look more puggle ish, or any mixture in between.
Its hard to explain the exactl why of it, but I'll do my best. Basically the puggle has both beagle genes, and pug genes to pass on to offspring. If both parents pass the chromosomes for all of the beagle looking genes on, that puppy will look like a beagle. If the parents happent o pass the pug looking genes, the puppy will look more like a pug. And you will not be able to pick and choose which genes get passed on.
Pugs are notoriously difficult whelpers, are you prepared for the possibility that your female may require a c-section and possibly even die while trying to pass a puppy that's head is too large to fit to her birth canal?
Instead of buying this mixed breed from a irresponsible breeders who are out to make a buck (and in my experience ALL puggle breeders fit in this category), you should encourage your family to check animal shelters and rescues in your area and save a life. If you go to www.petfinder.com and do a search for pug/beagle mix you will find there are dozens of puggles up for adoption aorund the nation.
Thank you both sooo much for your help. I also spoke to my vet today about the subject. My major concern is the health of my little girl and any chance at all of her getting hurt or even dying is not worth it. But I do have to comment on the issue of adopting a pet from a shelter. I know of at least 15 people that attempted adoption instead of going through a breeder and all were denied or given the run around. These animal shelters would rather put an animal to sleep instead of giving them to a good home. This subject is a major issue right now where I work. A guy I work with just tried to adopt two kittens after his cat of 18 years had passed away and was denied because he didn't take the cat to the vet enough. A cat to live 18 years should show he was doing something right! I also met a guy that worked for one of the shelters and quit because of this exact reason. He watched to many animals die instead of them letting them get adopted. I could go on and on with different stories but the bottom line is they are all great owners of a dog or cat now that they were forced to buy through a breeder. Maybe this is only the case in New Jersey, I hope to think all shelters are not like this. And the shame is the only other alternative is adopting on line, which you don't meet the dog you are getting to see if that one is the right one for you.
As it always is with the Group of Death, louis vuitton outlet one of the tall trees of world football gets cut down.
