two pounds is not good, tea cups are out side of breed standerd. Make sure he gets regular vet visits, they are know to have heath problems. watch out for runny eyes and breathing problems. keeep clothes on that little guy. small dogs are full ground at seven months
Very different styles but I love them both! I think their ears match their personalities if that doesn't sound too weird lol...Penny's were done very precisely and sharp. And she has that "edge" to her. Rocko's don't look as sharp and precise, and dont have that curve if you know what I mean. And he is just some calm, not so edgy, but instead very goofy. I don't know it just might be the way I look at my own...lol.... Enjoy! Thanks!
MY MINI PIN IS A LAP DOG.HE CANT NOT BE IN YOUR LAP IF YOUR SITTING DOWN.THEY LOVE TO BURROW.HE IS VERY HYPER WHEN YOU START TO PLAY.HE RUNS IN THESE CRAZY CIRCLES AROUND AND UNDER EVERYTHING.WHEN I WALK HIM ON HIS LEASE HE BARKS AT ALL STRANGERS BUT WILL LET THEM PET HIM IF HES IN MY ARMS.BUT THEY ARE YAPPERS.GREAT FOR APARTMENTA AS WELL.
Penny is 6.5lbs...and Rocko is 7.5lbs...His lack of exercise has caused him to lose some weight but not much...He used to be 8.5lbs... So I bring him for more walks and let him loose in the backyard...It helps so try that with your little guy...Who knows...Penny was only 4lbs when she was about 7-8 months, then she gained some more...Even my guys are on the petite side, but I'm fine with it...I would like to see more weight on them (more exercise will help and I'll see results soon), but as long as their healthy, I can't ask for more...Thanks!
females are more layed back. I think it is the mothering thing, But if you want to see a realy min pin give you a show that is the males job. They prance and high step more often, just like men they love to show off.
Really M. Hampton? ... Maybe my two are just different, but they are the complete opposite from what you said. Penny, my female, is more stubborn...more territorial...more fiesty...more alert....and definitely more flirty...lol...It's almost like she is conceited but a sweet girl at heart...And then Rocko, my male, is more calm, more eager to please, very relaxed, shows way more obedience (unless a female's in heat ...lol)...affectionate....Easier to walk with.. I guess there's some exceptions to the "average" when it comes to the differences in sexes of Min Pins...Thanks!
I think it is all in the litter they came from, if they were the dog one in the group, or the runt gettting picked on. My big boy puppies always do well in their new homes, but the runts aways give people a hard time. they need their siblings more. my male was an only puppy, mpther only had one, that is why he is high strung. mommy held him down and cleaned him till he had sores. he does not liked to be held, like a cat he layes on your lap on his terms. he has gotten over it in the last year, made a big turn around
when i got my mini pin hes ears weren't done but hes tail was.Is it a bad idea to have them sleep with you?He has a habit of making his way under the blanket,to the edge of the bed and he'll sleep there all night I'm afraid he cant breath...LOL..
I have females that are high strung (activity wise) and some that are laid back. The same goes for males...all are very affectionate and love to be on your lap, in your bed, etc. I dont find there to be a big difference personality wise between males and females.
My females are more active overall than my males, though every dog is different. I dont find their litter size, runt, etc. to hold any bearing on the overall personality.
Hi! We love our Min Pins. You certainly meet a lot of people when you take your little dogs out. Everyone wants to see them and ask about them.
What has been said previously about socializing is a must. Mine have great temperaments but they have been highly socialized. They still get really excited at times and that is the hardest thing to control about a Min Pin in my opinion.
Lots of people that see ours say that theirs are not as friendly with strangers and are a little aggressive. That comes from leaving them at home and not getting enough exercise and socialization. Mine love people but have always been around people too.
If you are a low energy person, they may not be the dog for you but if you are fairly active and will take the dog on walks and to obedience class, I think a Min Pin would be a great dog.
