I have a borzoi. In my opinion, they are fantastic dogs. LOL.
They are smart and observant, and they are stubborn and thus difficult to train. Mine quickly figured out that she didn't get to go for a walk until she pottied in the yard, so she started squatting quickly and pretending to pee so that she could get on with her walk.
They are quiet dogs. I've only heard mine bark a few times, and that was only when she was playing. So, they make terrible guard dogs, but their noise level will not upset the neighbors.
They are very fast and have a high prey drive, so they cannot ever be allowed off leash in an area that is not securely fenced. And an e-fence won't stop them if they've spotted a rabbit.
They are also very funny dogs. Mine will celebrate coming in from a walk by having the zoomies on the couch, even though she takes up two-thirds of the couch when lying down. She will also pick the pockets of my cargo shorts if I don't have them buttoned.
If your friend has a good sense of humor and wants a clown, a borzoi might be a good fit for her. If your friend wants an obedient dog, she should look for a different breed.

That concerns me a bit, I have never owned a Borzoi, however I have handled and worked with several hounds, sight and scent, and a borzoi. Most will chase anything that runs/moves, including cats, bunnies, plastic bags, chickens, tumbleweeds, pocket pets, ect.
