I am just wondering if there are any other DDB owners out there. I have been in love with these dogues since I have seen the movie (Turner and Hooch). I finally got my first one in 2001.
Unfortunately, he was a product of a BYB and was stupidly purchased from a pet shop. So anything that could have went wrong eventually did. He had everything from double hip dysplasia, coccydia, ringworm, chronic ear infections, etc.
He was a wonderful dog and a great friend, spoiled rotten (slept on the couch). He sadly died at 2 1/2, collapsed right in front of me, weirdly something that morning woke me up at 4am, he looked at me walked over and down he went. I still cry over him after all this time.
We have a new boy now who is from a reputable breeder in the upstate NY area. We didn't wait long (1 month), my husband was tired of coming home from work and seeing me laying on the couch, couldn't eat, sleep or talk to anyone.
Our new boy is as healthy as can be and we would never again want to go through that heartache again. I love my new boy although it took me awhile to stop comparing the two.
So, in closing if there are any other DDB owners out there give a shout.
I haven't quite figured out how to post pix on here, but if you go to Dogster.com and do a town search (Gloversville) you will be able to see him. His name is Argo and he has a great personality and wonderful sense of humor.
Thank you for posting the link for me, I'm somewhat computer illiterate when it comes to doing anything that requires more than 3 brain cells at a time LOL
He doesn't have that bad of a drool thing going on, my Bordeaux before him was worse than the movie. It looked like he always had shoelaces hanging from his mouth. I found it endearing, other people didn't. Alot to be said for a mothers love.
hi I have a ddb cross with a Rott. He is gorgeus and a good boy. We got him from some people that had planned to breed ther DDB with another DDb but the neighbors Rott thought differently, they came home superbowl sunday and found the 2 stuck together. They said you could see nail maks in the 6ft fence where the rott came over. Talk about determination any how luckly we got deigo he is definatly a people stopper everyone always comments about him. Lucky the people got mom spayed after and hopefully Diego is a one littter only guy. http://dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=269372
