shiggs, my dog has fear issues. He was beaten before I rescued him. I am working to solve the problem, I am not giving up and making him someone elses problem. But I guess you would rehome him, hes cur as you put it. No aggression whatsoever. He is the most gentle dog I have ever encountered.
Have you seen what neglect and mistreatment does to a dog?? It seriously messes with their heads. My dog is scared of bikes, brooms, men, large people, rambunctious dogs, loud noises. So I am helping him, not giving up on him.
shiggs: "There is no need to be down eachothers throats. Personally i couldnt handle a dog peeing all over my carpet. Something would deffinately have to change. If Katz re homes her dogs because she thinks that it would be a better fit than whats the big deal?"
If you bring a pet into your home to love and care for then why is it ok to hand the pet over to someone else when they become inconvient?
And Katz has a whole laundry list of animals she has rehomed in a short amount of time. Its crazy and unheard of the amount of animals this woman has rehomed.
Rehoming animals over and over takes a serious toll on them. Just because it seems easier for a dog to re-adjust doesn't mean it's okay, you know? One of my dogs was abused, I took him in. He can't race on account of he's a Pomeranian (hehe) but it took a while for him to agree with his surroundings. He had that piddle problem too.
I didnt say get rid of it because it wsa inconvient. I said if the dog was a better fit in another home.
I said one was a fear biter. I worked with the dog for two weeks. He bit me twice. He had to go. I couldnt leave him in the yard. I wouldnt put in in someone elses home. There was no other options. Not that i have to explain any of my actions to you.
I know nothing about your dog. If it aint a pit i dont want it. I cant give any opinion on your dog because i dont know it. If you are working with him than thats great. I hope he can overcome his issues.
I have seen what abuse does to a dog. Seen it first hand. I know what it does to a dog. I had a pit mastif mix that weighed 150 and was scared of everything. The difference. The pit/mastiff would tuck tail and run. You can work with that. The other pit i had. He would jump and attack. Once a dog starts biting and inflicting actuall wounds on a human his days are numbered in my yard.
"If Katz re homes her dogs because she thinks that it would be a better fit than whats the big deal?"
Well, that's the problem. Every animal she has ever owned ended up being a "better fit" with someone else. As someone else mentioned, she has "rehomed" more pets than I have owned in my entire life. But like Gunny, when I get a pet, I KEEP that pet. No, they are not all perfect. But we work it out.
