My Cinnamon just had a litter of 6 puppies on Saturday/Sunday. Unfortunately she did not make it and died on Monday. I am just heart broken. Now I have 6 puppies that already all have homes if they make it...... and I have a few questions about the puppies if anyone can help.
1.) How long do they have that rolly polly belly. They are only 5 days old... so they dont stand yet.... but when they are on thier bellies... the are almost pear shapped they are so round...lol. Is this normal and how long do they have this? I stimulate them after every feeding ( almost .. I think I missed 2)......I am also checking their feces... and I dont see any worms or anything.
2.) When will they get better muscle control? They creep around the stroller that I keep them in but their movements are somewhat jerky.... I imagine this is normal as human babies are the same way. But how long can I expect this.
3.) When can I stop stimulating them? I am prepared to do it as long as it takes.... but even though I do it after 99.9 percent of the feedings....they dont always go then... and sometimes do potty in the stroller.
They are all gaining weight after a slight scare because they all LOST weight at first. I want my Cinnamon to look down from heavan and be proud that I took such good care of her babies... but all the books that I read talk about puppies... but not newborns or newborn care. I need a what to expect during the first year summary. :)
Can anyone help me?
BTW..... they all already have very good homes to people that are close to me so I can keep a good eye on them! I am paying for them all to be spayed or neutered. But since they are chihuahuas... I know they have to get to a certain weight to do so. I will let their owners have them with the signed agreement that they will spay or nueter their baby at my expense within the first year to avoid populating the world with unwanted babies. I really am trying to be a responsible pet owner.

Normally they will get better muscle control and are able to move more gracefully around 10-14 days. I do have pictures of my chi's from newborns on up if you have a way to get me your email address! You can compare body shape if you'd like. As for the stimulating them, I'd say they'd most likely need it done until around 3-4 weeks of age depending on how they are doing. If they are not going after every feeding the formula may be too thick. How often are you feeding them? Are you weighing them each day? I'm guessing you are but I figured I'd just ask! I could go on and on so it would probably be easiest to email instead of post on here!
