So our littlest diva an eleven month old Pomeranian/Dachshund is now humping her sister's. This is a bizarre new habit. She was spayed at five months of age and had no complication's. I am wondering if this is normal or what. She is displaying the sign's of a "heat" cycle. I appreciate all feedback about this issue.
Also, she is the only one that does this of the three.
i think which i hope it is normal. my female dachshund humps my male. she does it the most when the two are playng with a toy or if i show my male attention. do you have pics. i would like to see what a pom/dach looks like. my female is almost 2
Rebel, Sniffing everything..displaying her back-end to the other's, humping them any chance she get's. I have no clue whether it's a dominance issue or not. She's actually the bottom of this totem pole. Nikki is our alpha and Molly is our next in command and sophie is the smallest and prissiest. It's just so odd that she's the only one that does this. And it just started one day, Bam! I'm a stay at home so I notice any and every chang and it didn't come on like a slow habit. It's embaressing to look at and my two year old is starting to wonder what the heck she's doing and I try to say she's being "silly" and "playing"...but...it weirds me out too.
My Lilo tries to hump Stitch every once in a while, and Stitch goes after her.....it is just asking for some respect, but Stitch is top dog!
Stitch used to hump her monkey, as well.
It is possible, I have heard that sometimes, dogs retain some of the parts that cause heat cycles....bad vetting, I suppose. One guy on here, who doesnt post much had to RESPAY his dog. I will see if I can find that for you!
My firend had a jack and after she was fixed she started to hump every dog she saw and would even lift her leg to pee. One day she came over to play with rocky and rocky peed on the fence she walked up behind him lifted her leg and peed on the fence rocky peed on the buch she peed on the bush then rocky sniffed the fence and peed on it agin she did the same. It went on for a wile.
I dont know what you can do to fix the problem but hay maby you fell better knowing your not the only one with a humper
Well it sounds semi-normal. I am hoping it's a phase or that she grows out of it. I'd probably feel better if she humped her toys or someone elses dog, instead of her sister's. I really don't want the other two to learn this. That would be a nightmare to have 3 humperdoodles.
I have two (neutered) 10 month old mini schnauzers and my 6 year old (spayed) wirehaired fox terrier will hump them any chance she gets. Like some of the others, she will really go after them if they are playing & wrestling with each other and ignoring her. For the most part they don't hump her, but lately Cooper has been acting more dominant and will do it to her. My dh freaks when they do it b/c he doesn't believe me that it's just a dominance thing - but it totally is, especially with the terrier. She also has to pee over everywhere they have gone and on walks she goes at least 6 times when the boys go once or twice. Sounds like you have one who just wants to make sure she is the boss.
I also have a "Humperdoodle"! She does this when the other two are playing with each other and she isn't involved. According to my vet, this is a dominance thing. When we see her do it we just tell her No No. Funny, it's my Sophie that does it.
Glad to see you post again, I missed the three dogs stories as I have three also.
Oh I have some stories! They are either geniuses' or complete Goobers! We're not sure which it is yet, but they have the look out (Molly), ringleader (Nikki) and the cleaner (Sophie). Molly stands around making puppy faces to distract my attention from whatever Nikki it getting into. After I've found out and yelled for Nikki to go outside while I get mop/broom/vaccum,windex..etc Sophie eats/steals/hides..whatever evidence was left.
Crafty girl's. And if your's are related then you also know about the sibling factor! They aren't any normal lap dog's, they are a dog-pack! And they do everything together, I mean everything! Here's some picture's from yesterday!
