I certainly agree with giving the pups a good home, but you also need to be sure to add up any possible extra costs. Due to it's worm infestation and since it is supposedly living in filth it may have coccidia, not to mention any other possible bacterial infections. I breed Pembroke Welsh Corgis and I keep everything as clean as possible and they can still get coccidia, so it would be weird if they didn't have it. Good luck with your decision.
I asked if she was a breeder because it didn't say anywhere if she was or wasn't, or just had intact dogs when she probably shouldn't have them at all.
The reason I asked about an adoption fee is I've learned that people who give puppies away generally do not care what happens to them, or where they are going. They just give them away. At least having an adoption fee for them would give her money to take care of the dogs she does have, get them fixed at best.
Why assume that the pups won't find good homes? I know you mean well, but you sound like no one who adopts at a shelter will be able to care for a puppy. Even if the shelter does NO screening, it's possible that people just like YOU (caring and competent) adopt the pups.
I say listen to your inner voice on this one. You don't need to (and can't) save them all.

Husky - this woman clearly doesn't care about the pups one bit, which is sad. She is just another statistic in the overpopulation of the animal kingdom. The main reason my friend is taking her pup this weekend is b/c she heard that a bookcase fell on them!!! She refused to let the pup stay there any longer than he had to.
Brutus - I'm in MA (Cape Cod). If you want, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Malteseluv - I actually got Bagel from our MSPCA which is within walking distance of our house, very dangerous ;-)
Like I said I am not 100% sure I will be able to take one. But it's not stopping me from going with my friend to make sure at least one puppy gets a good home....
NoDogYet - thanks for your comment. You're right, I can't save them all....
Well if you are like me I have no will power and If I go there is no doubt that I would get one. A few months back I ended up with two dogs I was going to adopt out will they are still here and I have not even looked for homes. LOL
I say,do what you can to give a pup a good home. Obviously they would be much better off with you, your friend, and anyone else who has a heart......more than this girl who didn't care enough to have them fixed and certainly doesn't seem to give a hoot about the offspring. Good luck with it all!
You would be shocked at what dogs will breed together. Growing up we had 2 bull masfit mix dogs. One was very large (half bull and half germansheperd but looked pure bull) the other was about half her size (part bull part german and part wimerwarner (SP) she was the daughter of the other one) Well the bigger one went into heat and this tiny tiny little poodle looking dog, not even half the size of her head, got her preg. I walked out back in the middle. The pups were the funniest looking things I had ever seen they had the build of the bull but they were covered in poofy hair. One was white like the daddy and the other was a dark fawn ( brown body with the black mask) just like the mom. Cute pups but they were funny looking when they got bigger.
