It's getting to the point where weekly vet visits are becoming routine. She's ten and seems to be giving up on life. I'd sy that the last two weeks, she's had nothing. We've done everything from boiling chicken and beef, to using plates for her to eat off of. any suggestions?
They say that they can't find anything wrong with her. She's dropped from 73 pounds at the beginning of the summer, to 50 pounds now. She lost 10 pounds alone while we took a family trip about 2 weeks ago.
Have you tried satin balls, and has the vet done xrays and an ultra sound, also you may want to check her teeth, in the meantime buy fresh goats milk and some nutra-cal and force feed her to kick in her appetite.
My best friends cat had the same symptoms. She is 18, and they were bringing her to be put down because she wouldnt' eat. Turns out she had a cyst in her throat, and the vet just drained it. She doing fine now. I'd maybe ask the vet if he checked for something like that.
I agree with Bogle and the others here, especially in a boxer, check for lumps and bumps. Our wonderful boxer, B, died at 15 from stomach cancer, and 6 months before she died, the same thing happened, wouldn;t eat, dropping weight fast. When she was diagnosed with cancer, we realised she wouldn't eat because it HURT when that food hit her stomach. She was put on painkillers and we switched her to a bland home cooked diet, her appetite picked right back up. Good luck, and let us know what happens!
My minpin did that a few times as he got older, One time he was depressed (stoped eating for almost 2 weeks) The last time he was just sick of food. he finaly started eating when my grandma cooked for him, She gave him grilled chicken and all kinds of goodies. he finaly started eating and the vet said just feed him what he wants hes 15 years old let the guy eat. untill your next vet trip trying feeding him all kinds of diffrent things. Try a strawberry smoothy rocky loves those, and grilled chicken was billys fave (he had to a small bit of BBQ sause cooked with it) maby yo ucan get him to eat untill your vet checks for tumors and all that.
