What food brand do you feed most often: Wysong
Form (dry, canned, both, other): both + raw foods
Where do you purchase it most often: Direct from company
Why did you choose this food? It's based in my state and my friend is employed there, so I'm lucky to have someone to tell me how crappy the dog food is out there. They promote variety w/ a raw food diet and use quality ingredients w/ no fillers in their foods.
2 Dogs 3 yrs old Solid Gold (Wolf King) Dry with 1 can of Sold Gold split between them or fresh boneless skinless chicken breast. Bought at Specialty Food/Holistic Food and supply store Reason why, quality food makes for healthier dogs and saves you money during the life of your pets.
3 cats 6,8, and 14yrs Chicken Soup Dry Specialty Food/Holistic Food and supply store Reason why, is they seem to do well.
Where do you purchase it most often: (I don't need to know the name of the store, just the type, i.e. grocery store, vet, pet food store, feed store, etc.)
(4) Dogs 6 years, 1 year, 1 year, 3 months Natural Balance Potato/duck Dry kibble Petco (pet supply store?) One of the one year olds has allergies and having them all on the same food is easier for me than trying to keep HIM out of a food he may be allergic to.
What food brand do you feed most often: Royal Canin
Form (dry, canned, both, other): The dog food is dry. However I also feed him a mixture of cooked lean beef with rice or cooked veggies. I'll also supplement the beef for chicken. Just to give a variety.
Where do you purchase it most often: A pet store.
Why did you choose this food? It cwas suggestion from a friend of mine. Who worships her dog. :) This food was suggested by her vet!
2 dogs Ages 9 and 12(soon to be 10 and 13) At the moment both eating the B/D diet from Hills Dry only Buy it through Vets The diet is related to studies done on elderly people and memory function, it improves other things like spinning and some other minor behavioral problems. The antioxidents are also through the roof so my males skin conditions are non existant, hes off the allergy food he was on. I am using it as a preventative basically as well. It is made for older animals, but could be used for adult animals, it has controlled ingredients to protect kidney and liver function as well, as the animals age. Cost is not an issue
3 Cats all about 1 yr All eat CD Hills /if I run out its Iams Dry mostly Comes from the Vets Neutered males are prone to crystals, CD is a preventative, and it is a maintence diet for adults. Cost is not an issue
What food brand do you feed most often: Canidae and raw
Form (dry, canned, both, other): Dry
Where do you purchase it most often: (I don't need to know the name of the store, just the type, i.e. grocery store, vet, pet food store, feed store, etc.) Specialty pet store for dry, local general store butcher for raw.
Why did you choose this food? Raw food because it is perfectly made for my CARNIVORES. Canidae because the dogs coats have improved dramatically, no more runny eyes no more FARTING! Yay!
And yes, dogs are true CARNIVORES, not omnivores, like say, a bear. Dogs have sharp molars, not flat molars, and their jaws are rigid, they do not move side to side, which is necessary for grinding plant matter. Some people will argue that wolves and dogs eat the stomach contents of their prey, but they do not...wild dogs will empty the stomach contents of their prey then eat the stomach lining, not the contents. Also, dogs digestive tracts are made to push food through quickly, as is the case with all true carnivores, this is why when you feed your dogs vegetables, they will come out the same way they went in: whole. It doesn't sit in the stomach long enough to be processed. The information vets are still giving out is just plain wrong.
