Please be sure to read these articles and watch the video, inside addition were going there today. A protest is planned outside of the court house on the 21st Sept, Best friends animal sanctuary is now on board and we are trying to get Pasado involved.
I saw...and don't agree with dogs being kept/left that way either...i won't argue that. Trust me I feel the same way. But, like I had just added on the other thread (looking at it from a legal standpoint), unless the dog is turned over for the court to evaluate the owners will never be charged with anything. It will have made the whole effort for nothing if the rescuers don't start using the heads instead of their hearts.
There is the owners admission in the first article in the mirror. Admitting the knew the dog was sick. "Lori Arnold said her family had planned to euthanize the dog. “But do you know how hard that is to do?” she said."
There are pictures video's witness'es and the report of a quailified vet.
I have seen ppl jailed with far less evidence.
I agree maybe Tammy did not do everything right, but time was of the essence here, the authorities had ignored the reports for long enough.
From what i saw in the video the dog had a dog house. You can give a dog a dog house but you cant make them use it. I have had dogs that will not go in their dog houses for anything. Even in the pouring rain they would prefer to sit outside. Now i do agree that the dog shouldnt have been left outside in that kind of condition. However i dont agree with what this woman did. She is not a part of animal control. She had no legal right to remove the dog from the property. If anything she has now made it more difficult for dogs in that kind of situation. She should have gone to animal control and hounded them until they came out.

PA's code of cruelty Code. I would like to point out this: Quote: AN AGENT OF ANY SOCIETY OR ASSOCIATION FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS "
Now Being a member of a 501c association for the prevention of cruelty, even if its not a HS should be enough as this is the way it is worded in their code.
Those paragraphs indicate that the "agent" can start criminal proceeding and/or acquire a search warrant through legal channels. In other words, do the legal beagle stuff BEFORE trespassing and seizing. So with that in mind the only thing Tammy Grimes did wrong was to not get a warrent.
here's the link to Governor Rendell office. The Lancaster Puppymill Awarness Day is happening this w/e and Gov Rendell has promised to overhaul the puppymill industry in PA I'm sure he would be interested and concerned about the Doogie matter in PA.
I have just written his office...please everyone send a polite email expressing concerns about animal welfare laws in PA.
"So with that in mind the only thing Tammy Grimes did wrong was to not get a warrent."
I haven't been following this thread, but I find the above line EXTREMELY disturbing. Take this statement out of the current context.... Think of what "agents" could do to you or your property if they felt the urgency to do so...
It reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw last week:
I support what Tammy did 100% Her bold efforts are what change what goes on in this society and others. Many a great people have defied the law and changed the world. As rescuers we are responsible for saving animals. The people out there that disagree feel that we should wait for all the T's to be crossed and the planets to line up before we move to save an animal. Observing cruelty and letting it continue makes us no better than the abusers. We have to stand up and take a risk in this business and those that are too skiddish should should find another line of volunteerism to do. I'm all for abiding the law, but until the police and animal control start doing what they are supposed to, we will have to be there to help. You can be moved to action, like Tammy did or wait weeks , months or years as a chained dog slowly dies. What end of the chain are you on?
