Heck, I already knew they did this. If they are going to make more money then they will register anyone's purebred.
Like I have said in my earlier posts, they go to commercial breeders homes and they will AKC their kennels. I know this because commercial breeders have told me and I have been to their kennels to look before just out of curiosity since they were AKC licensed kennel. He had dogs everywhere outside. Small dogs confined in those small cages up off of the ground. He bred dogs back to back and AKC didn't care. They AKC'd his dogs and kennel anyway. So this really isn't shocking to me.
I was in Jersey this weekend visiting relatives. One of their friends was over and was complaining that she had just bought a puppy from the pet store a few months ago, and it died 31 days after she bought it. She came home and found it dead in its own vomit. The pet store only had a 30 day guarantee so wouldnt replace it. I couldnt bite my tounge and just said "thats what you get for getting a pup from a pet shop." They were stunned and had no clue why pet shops are bad. Ugh.....
I don't know, but this seems a little below the belt of even the AKC. But I do know they encourage back to back breeding in one way or the other. When I registered my last litter they gave me a certificate for so much off my next registration with that female. Sad thing. It expired 9 months after the first litter registration was sent in. So that gives you just enough time to breed her and get a litter out of her in time to send it in and get the money off the registration.
Anyways, besides the point. I am wondering how correct that article can be seeing it was someones blog website to begin with?
Riley, that is too bad about your friends pup though!
It has gone from AKC registrations to how bad Pet stores are. You need to get with it. I do not like pet stores myself but I find it hard to believe that they sell sick puppies all the time. How could so many pet stores stay in business if they sold sick puppies all of the time? You all say that because you all do not like them. I don't like them either but to say it is their fault because that puppy got sick. If they took the puppy to the vet like they should and the vet found nothing wrong with it then how can you say it is the pet stores fault? They could have bought another puppy from a good breeder and something happen to it as well. You all need to get over the pet store thing because there will probably always be dogs and cats sold at pet stores. GEEZ!
I don't like pet stores for a few reasons. 1. They will sell a dog to anybody. 2. They do not breed the best dogs; any purebred will do. 3. They do not make sure new pet owners are knowledgeable about pet ownership. etc.....
BUT not every pet store dog is unhealthy. NOT all dogs from supposed responsible breeders are healthy either. I know a few people who bought dogs from supposed excellent breeders who are having their share of health problems like allergies and ear infections.
Hmmm wonder who you are Nuke? You sound oh-so-familiar.
It has everything to do with how bad pet stores are. AKC shouldnt be supporting puppy mills, when they try and stress that you only get from "good" breeders. Well i guess they don't even know what a "good" breeder is.
This is even more reason I won't show my dog in AKC.
