i was at the mall the other day.there is a pet store that is in there so i went to look.they had persian kittens in there.i know almost all puppys in pet stores are puppy mills puppies but what about kittens.they were so cute but so sad looking like they had always been in cages.is there such a thing as kitten mills.i dont wont to sound stupid but i was really curious.
Yes there are kitten mills, they are not on the same scale as puppy mills but they do exist. Most a breeders that keep the cats in cages 24/7 in a warm atmosphere , with lots of light, this induces the cats to breed all year round and they pump out litters almost every season. As soon as the kittens start to show an interest in food they are removed from the mother to induce her to come into season so she can be bred again.
The life of a Kitty Mill female is about an average of 5 years as opposed to 15-20 in a normal household. The animals never see a vet and if they have trouble birthing or retain a kitten they are thrown in the rubbish to die. The in-breeding is constant resulting in genetic problems etc.
Sadly cats are the poor relatives of the pet trade, so very little attention is ever brought to the plight of cats.

i was just wondering i have never seen kittens in pet stores before.oh i had NO interest in buying a kitten from there i have 6 rescue cats already.my mom would have killed me if i walked in with a kitten.she would have throw me on the curb lol just kidding.she would have threatened me life.i did kinda wont one thought just to get them out f that mess.but i know if i bought one i would just be lining the pockets of the millers.
The pet shop here in town takes in peoples unwanted kittens vets them and sell s them for like 150 bucks, I dont like it because it gives people an easy out. They also dont alwyas have kittens either, it is like its just a we sell them if people have them.
