I went to check on him and clean his bottom when I noticed a string of this thick bloody mucousy(sp?) stuff about an inch from his rear, I got a washcloth and wiped it off only to have it replaced by more. He has a hole about half an inch from his rear. After talking to the vet, the vet said that his colon was probably torn. The vet said that where it is, it is inoperable and he will die. I have only had him here for a day....he is not even my kitten, yet I am devastated. We are bringing him in tomorrow to be put to sleep. My sister has to come say goodbye first. She is heartbroken.
I told the vet that I had bathed him and checked him over and never saw that. He said it could have been a minut hole and nothing was leaking but as he started being able to go potty, the straining probably tore him more. I am so sad.
He is too young to have such a terrible fate.
I would not have posted him on here if I had any clues about this. I feel bad about that too. He is too young to die. Another reason to stop if you hit an animal....this poor baby should have been pts immediately and not had to live through days of pain. I have to go give him some love now. At least he got to know some good food, a warm bed and some loving company before...
"The vet said that where it is, it is inoperable and he will die." That seems like a strange diagnosis to give over the phone. I can't imagine my vet would ever saying something like that without actually seeing the animal and seeing for himself exactly what I would be trying to describe over the phone.
We are taking him to the vet today. A different vet. As far as my sister goes, she was coming over to say goodbye. She was going to be gone camping(she was coming back Tuesday because we are leaving Wednesday) but she is coming to the vet with me. She also wants another diagnosis. So, I will update when I get back.
