Today I was walking my dog around the apartment complex and a stupid Pit Bull owner was outside with her dog off a leash. The dog turned and saw me and my dog walking and immediately ran straight at us and immediately clamped down on the scruff of my dogs neck. Fortunately it was only the scruff and not fully on the neck. My dog was yelping scared and in pain. I was kicking the other dog to try to get it to release. The other owner grabbed her dog by the back legs and was pulling. Someone shouted from far away to twist the dog around. When she did, my dog slipped through the grip.
Tomorrow I will be taking my dog to the vet to make sure that no damage was done. It could have been much worse if the extra skin around the neck was not so tough.
People say all the time that if a Pit Bull is raised with love and the owners are good owners then it will be no more a threat than any other dog. I disagree with this. Pit Bull's were bred to fight other Pit Bulls for money. That is what they are, a fighting machine. All Pit Bull's today have the genes past down from the winners of those fights. The combination of being the offspring of champion fighters, they have among the strongest jaws of any dog which makes it nearly impossible to break free without killing the dog or beating it senseless.
If my dog was a small dog she would be dead now. I don't believe there is such thing as a wise Pit Bull owner because I don't think a wise person would choose to own one to begin with. They are a menace. I never liked those dogs before this happened and now I will make it my personal goal to make sure owning a Pit Bull in my city limits will become illegal.
Im sorry sir. Have you experienced a Pit Bull attack. I just did. I guess that would make me more "experienced" in this subject than you. Feel free to come with me to the Vet tomorrow when my dog's neck gets checked out. Make sure to meet my dog that doesnt even chase a cat or bite back at a dog that is attacking her. If I could post a picture of my dog I could. So you could see the dog that has a chance of becoming ill and may need to be put to sleep in the future because of a Pit Bull.
No sir, your dog may be ill or get put to sleep due to a dog attack by a dog aggressive dog. ANY breed can be dog aggressive.
I would blame the owner as they were not intelligent enough to have thier dog securely on a leash. There are many people with dog aggressive dogs of many breeds, who take the proper precautions to prevent these very attacks. BSL(Breed Specific Legislation) does not only affect the breed that you personally have a problem with(after one encounter) but it affects everyone with a dog that even reembles a pit bull. All American Staffordshire terriers, American Bulldogs, mastiffs, basically any bully type breed will be banned.
Take your problem up with the owner of the dog. Have them pay your bills, take care of that particular person and please do not judge all dogs based on your one experience. That is like hating all of one race because one person did something wrong.
I have been attacked by 3 black labs, I am not foolish enough to want them all eradicated off the face of the planet. I am grown up enough to recognize that it was the owners fault in all 3 attacks though. I do agree that the owner should have had his/her dog leashed, but I feel that all dogs should be leashed. But you can not blame the pit breeds. Do you even know what kind of do it was that attacked your dog? Was it an American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or any of the other dozen or so breeds that are called "pit bulls"? Considering these breeds make up 40% of the dogs in America I hardly doubt that the breeds can be blamed. I think that dangerous dog legislation would do way more in your situation than BSL.

Here is a good defense for you. The stigma that Pit Bull's have attracts seedy dog owners. Then the dog does not get proper training because they like having a tough dog. Then "accidents" happen. So let's blame the owners.
I think that kats did, she asked what kind of dog you have, and you told us that you are taking your dog to the vet in the morning. But you did not post looking for sympathy for your dog, you posted to make people mad at pits and it simply isn't gonna happen here, sorry.
I'm truely sorry for what happened to your dog ,I am. As you can tell by my screen name i'm a owner of 2 APBT. 2 very loving girls Piper and Tigger. I'm a responsible owner who doesn't let her girls out to do things that would get them into trouble by the public. Blame the owner of this dog ,not the dog.Dogs will be dogs. You have to understand what your dog will do and prevent your dog from getting into trouble. It's that simple.
Oh by the way i'm not some sort of seedy drug addict APBT owner . Or a person looking for a macho dog. I love these dogs and will always own one.
I am the owner of 3 pitbulls and also a dog bite victim...i was bittin by a 2 year old boxer whom took out a nice peice of my thigh... that is harming not another animal but a human. this dog was not put to sleep, this dog didn't get on the news, because it wasnt a pitbull you said yourself the owner didnt have them on the leash, theres the problem my dogs are my childrens friends, pitbull or labs, you must raise your pet. how can you say such ignorant things.
I feel much sympathy for your dog...the poor thing was attacked by a dog and her pathetic owner is waiting until tomorrow to take her to the vet, letting her remain in pain throughout the night. I hope you sleep well, cuz if the attack was as bad as you say...she sure won't. That's very very sad.
ok. first of all. i agree with the other pit bull owners. i own a 10month old female pit bull. she has been around dogs, children and other adults. she is not even aggressive. shes a big baby who wants to play. you shouldnt be dissin pit bulls because people like you give pits bad names. its the owner thats to blame. do you think that any dog has a choice?? they are dependant on us. in fact. very true, why havent you taken your dog to the vet if she is so hurt?? you need to take your dog to the vet and quit sittin in front of the computer and complainin about a dog attack. it happens every day. espically with every type of dog.
My thoughts have already been spoken. If you were so worried about your dog and a possibly death from this attack, why are you not at a vet???? Any one of my dogs would have been there already. I am sorry your dog was attacked but, you can't blame an entire breed for one dog attacking yours. I would gladly own a Pit any day and I will someday.
Honestly, if you truly buy into the rampage of idiots against Pit Bulls, then become one, you have no sympathy from me. Sure, I feel bad for your dog, but not for you. I feel bad for the "Pit Bull" who "attacked", but not the owner. I feel worse for you though, that you will not educate yourself. http://www.understand-a-bull.com/BSL/OtherBreedBites/AllDogsBite.htm Try reading those.
