Well, I have some great news. I went with my sister to MY vet(not the vet I called) and they said that they were going to run some tests but they were pretty sure that he had a infection and the hole was actually an abcess that had ruptured. They were not worried about his tail at all and told her she could have it amputated later if it bothered him. So, she took him home, quit her camping trip a day early(the least of everyones wories) and she said she would let me know how he is doing. Because she lives with my mom, I will not get to see him again, but she may be able to send me pictures(I do not speak to or visit my mom at all)
So, thank you for all the thoughts, and the advice to get a second opinion. I have also got my vet a new client! LOL The first vet I called was my sisters vet, a local vet. She is furious now and said she will only use mine.
So, all is good and Aflac will hopefully make a full recovery and live a good life.
flip, I agree. How do you report a vet? Who do you do it too?
Debg, I am not sure exactly if he is on antibiotics or exactly what tests they did. I had my girls with me, so I stayed in the waiting room and she told me when we got in the car that they said he should be fine. She has to bring him back in a week. She had one bottle of meds but I do not know what it is. Probably Antibiotics. I will ask her next time I talk to her. We were just so happy that he was going to be okay that I did not even think to ask her.
As far as my family. We tried really hard but members of my family are really dysfunctional and in the end, me and my family are better off not associating with them. I do miss my sisters but I get to see them once in a while.
Sorry, you misundertood my post. I meant I agree that it is great he is doing better. And then I asked how do you report them and who to. I was asking that out of curiousity. I have never reported a vet, or anyone, to anyone before.
If an animal is bleeding from the anus after being hit by a car it would be assumed, after a conversation, that the animal has severe internal trama.
Suggesting euthanasia is no reason for the vet to be 'reported' they have done nothing wrong but give a simple opinon based off of incomplete facts.
Reporting people because they don't say what you want is a snowball that can seriously destroy someones buissness becuase you felt high and mighty and disagreed. Nothing immortal was done, the animal was not abused, neglected, mistreated or anything else. To report the vet is just disgusting and spiteful. Everyone has various opinions, this kitten may very well still die from internal issues that have not yet cropped up. Being hit by a vehicle is not a simple bandage and pat on the head.
It is nice to see a few vets who are willing to suggest alternitives that do not bleed the pocket dry.
Bogle, I do not know if the kitten has an e-collar. I presume he does but we left and she came and picked him up from the vet later. I am hoping to see her when I get back on Sunday. I will let you all know an update on how he is doing.
Icyhound, I was not going to report him. I just wanted to know who you called if you did. Thanks for answering that.
