You're not going to get very nice responses. I have some issues you should think about prior to breeding your dog.
The mature appearance and behavior of mixed breeds are not predicatable. Purebred dogs have well documented pedigrees and a good breeder has a fair estimation of what type of offspring a given pair will produce.
Does your dog have physical faults?
Do you know the risks of breeding? Decide whether your goal is worth risking the life or health of your dog.
Are you willing to care for all the puppies you produce? You are responsible for each dog you bring into this world.
Why do you want to breed mutts? It's certainly not because you want to better the breed.
Why? The shelters and rescues are loaded with mixed breed dogs. No responsible breeder will respond. The only people who will are the bottom feeders who "breed" to make money. Spay your dog and enjoy her as a companion. If you want another dog, adopt one. There are plenty out there. Go to Petfinder.com.
Yep..you are not going to get a very positive response to your question on here. Size-wise they are very similar, body structure is very similar. Their coat is very similar other than texture and color. Their hereditary risk factors are also very similar. Most likely because it is thought that the Maltese was bred into the mixture of different dog breeds that make up what a Yorkshire Terrier now is. That being said it would still be a mixed breed. Personally I love the mix. I have a 19 month old Yorkie x Maltese :)

Don't get me wrong many mixes are adorable. I know yorkie maltese mixes are cute -- no question. No one is attacking the dog.
However, it's irresponsible to breed these two dogs intentionally. Hmm I have a maltese and a friend has yorkie so they should get it on. Uh no!
People should get into breeding because they love the breed and want to continue producing quality dogs. Your main goal should not be money. If you want to make money visit this website http://www.nbc.com/Deal_or_No_Deal/ Better yet get a job!
And whats makes you think I care about your feelings for me?
Anyway think about it. Instead of just telling people why though shouldnt do it and no to do it dont yo uthink it would be better to give some advice too? there are some people you cannot talk out of it no matter how hard you try. So when you done explaing why you shouldnt mix breed or why you shouldnt breed just because they have papers and so on maby you should add in something like "if you still decide to breed you need to start with getting these tests done." or "make sure you have this this and that ready for welping" Explain what they would have to do incase the mom wont feed them or dies.
I dont support mixed breeding. I have herd about alot of bad things that happen when people breed. The mom dies, the mom wont feed them, they need a C because the pup is stuck, ect. I hink it would be better for he mama and pups if the owner had some info on what they are doing.
I run into the same problem here. People who know me in real life know when I'm joking. But sometimes humor doesn't come across here without lots of "LOLs" inserted. Maybe I'll start inserting "[joke]" or "[attempt at humor]" in my future posts.
Ok so lets just tell everyone not to breed knowing alot of people wont listen, then have more pups that are not only unwanted mutts but also unhealthy because the breeder didnt know what they were doing.
or we can try to talk them out of it but knowing that alot of people wont listen we can give them som advice on how to keep the mom and pups healthy and happy. that way if they do end up at the pound there is a chance they will be adopted and not PTS.
For every person whos telling them not to breed there is another one telling them they should. Saying things like "Oh they would ahve great looking pups you would make alot of money" and "Oh please breed them Id love to have a pup".
I completely understand your point. I can preach to my kids about abstaining from sex until I 'm blue in the face. But, if the mood hits when they are in the back seat of a car, I'm the LAST person they are thinking about. They will do it any way so why not make sure they are prepared. Same thing with breeding. Preach "Don't do it" but if they are set on it, they aren't going to listen. We can at least make sure they are prepared for what may happen.
