yesterday we noticed one faint red ring on the underside of our 16 week old white whippet pup purchased from a breeder w/ tons of animals on a small farm. We were just at the vet a couple days earlier getting reg. vaccines. We will see the vet this afternoon but I thougth I would see if anyone knows where these usually occur on a dog? If he wasn't white there is not way we would see this. Could it be something else?
I don't know if that is ring worm or not , but my cocker got ring worm from the vets. My guess is that another dog had it, laid on the floor, and then my dog laid in the same spot. Not only did my dog have it but my daughter got it from the dog. It was summer time, and the dog would get on the couch, and then my daughter would sit on it with her shorts on. Needless to say she got it all over her legs!!! She was not very happy and she still has scars on her legs from it 5 years later.
We all got ring worm from a kitten we rescued. Me, my husband and 5 of our grandkids. It took about three months to get rid of it as it is persistant. On the kitten it was hairless spots, not round, but any shape.
Just returned from the vet, better safe than sorry. The red ring has become fainter since yesterday and the vet says it was a bug bite and absolutely not ringworm. She said it would become more evident and scaly not less so.
glad it is not a ringworm. my female dachshund had ringworm infection after we got her. it looked like little caluses on her body. the vet gave me a "special" shampoo and they were gon withthin a week.
