i didnt ask the vet., but its been 11 days since hes been neutered, is this long enough for him to heal? hes a bichon-poodle mix and needs a bath regularly he gets all matted and stinky and smelly. and hes white but after a few days hes a dirty white. the vet told me a week he should be healed. if i remember right. we had no problems at all with him healing correctly- even tho he did lick and lick the thing daily but he healed just fine. i think he was licking where they shaved him he didnt seem to lick down there it was proabbly the prickle of the new hair growing so that bothered him should i call my vet and ask if he can be bathed now or should i wait alittle longer?
he also had some baby teeth pulled and had dried blood around his mouth and i think he would be much happier all clean and smelling pretty agian.

Does he have sutures that need to be removed or did they use the kind that dissolve? They just can't get wet until everything has healed. When my two boys were neutered in April I was told not to bathe them for 10 - 14 days. I would call your vet to ask when he can be bathed just to be sure.
Not everything is worth an immediate phone call to the vet when these wonderful people here are a wealth of knowledge and experience. We know we can ask the vet, it's just more fun on TP. :)
As for the original question? Yeah, I dont know. Might want to ask a vet.
oooooh, just kidding. They told me 7 day minimum when my boys were done. Dokker had the disintegrating sutures, so after the ends that were on the outside of his body fell off, and he wasnt swollen or anything, is when I knew I could bathe him.
So I'd say if his were that kind, and they are gone, and he looks good and healed up, sure. If not, and he still has stitches, then no, wait until the vet removes them.

Bentley has the sutures that are inside and will desolve on their own the vet said,
yes i am going to start trying to not bathe bentley as much but hes really needing a bath after having his baby teeth pulled and hes just a stinky mess and dirty and tacky feeling he isnt even white any more..lol but after this were trying to stick to maybe 1x every other week, maybe i can just find some better shampoo that wont dry him out? hes so much handsome when hes clean. im sure all dogs are but i cant get over how differnt he looks days aafter a bath compaired to just being washed his coat is so shiney and fluffy and white and boy he smells wonderful. cuddling up to him at night is so pleasant when hes all clean and soft , now hes alittle stink bomb and hes nappy feeling, he also needs a hair cut so when his hair is shorter he doesnt get so grungy so fast. its long and fluffy now after the second day you cant even get a brush threw his coat any more. no matter how hard you try.. i was going to buy a set of dog grooming clippers, is it pretty easy to do your own dogs hair? or is it trial and error? ny husband seems to think we can do it our selfs. i do trim him up in the bath, his bangs so they dont get in his eyes and around his bum and around his eyes, my husband calls it the kramer hair cut because its all wacked and then sticking up on top..llol i will post some new pic of my handsome little fella its been awhile since ive posted hes getting to be a big boy- 6.4 pounds now..
