A helpful sentence :Don't get a rottweiler, as they are DANGERUSS, DANGEROUS.
That is just wrong. First all dogs can be dangerous. I dont care if its a lab or a pitt all dogs can bite. second rotts are very loving dogs. My uncle had a rott. he saved my cusion. My uncle used to a car detal place in cali, and he would bring his wife, there little girl, and there rott to work. One day my aunt ran to the back to get something when this guy came in and took my cusion. Axle, The rott, Jumped up chased the man down and just about ripped his arm off, he stayed with my cusion untill my aunt and uncle went out there and wouldnt let the guy move untill the cops got there. That dog loved everyone he had never bitten anyone the worst thing he ever did was fart, it was enough to clear a room lol. The poor guy died from a brain toumor a few yeas ago.
have you ever seen those carl picture books? Thats what he reminded me of. He was always watching out for my cusion. They got him a few years befor my aunt had her and he didnt mind the crying and screaming, he didnt mind when she would sleep on him. He loved her more then anything.
saying all rotts are bad because of a few things you have probly herd on the news is not fair to the rotts who have great owners and who are just all around good dogs. Yes kids have died from a rott attacking them. those rotts should not have been out, those rotts should have had better owners, and a rott is a big dog if one gets ahold of you it can kill you, but so could a lab, a pitt, a mastiff, or a dane. Im sure even a small little yorkie or shih-tzu could cause alot of pain if not kill you.
thank you and you are right,my female rottie would clear out a room with the smell.yet she also nursed a little kitten back to health and hes fine now and sitting right next to me,5years later his name is jeff and milk does the body good.
On some animal show they had a rott who took care of a litter of kittens and a fox? I dont rember what it was but they though it was a kitten. I think rotts are probly the most loving dogs ever. I know alot of dogs will help take care of other babys but I hear about rotts doing it more then any other breed
Rottweilers are normally excellent, excellent pets. They do need obedience training and lots of exercise, but so do a lot of large drover-type dogs.
Don't pay attention to the ignorant, breed-bashers on this site, you have chosen an excellent breed, just be sure to check out the temperment thoroughly (a rescue dog that has been home-fostered is good for this) and make sure that you are ready for the demands of a large dog that needs a lot of exercise to stay happy.
There are a lot of things that make me sick about people. One thing is breed hatred. It reminds me of ignorant racist people. There are many breeds that I would never chose to own. But I would never come on a forum and make sweeping generalizations.
I am the proud owner of a Rott Lab mix. She's got more of a Rott personality and I wouldn't trade her for the world!
yesterday down the shops a lady went to pat a cute little chi that a kid was holding. It ripped a hole in her hand and made a lot of noise. The lady wrapped a hanky around her finger and the boy apolagised and they both went on their way. No animal control called, nothing. If the dog had of been bigger, the damage would of been worse. Its not the breed, its the dog, and the way they'r brought up, and to a degree, they'r breeding. I was hesitant on adopting our 5 yr old rotty, but after 1 hour with him, never regreted it. He's just a good natured, lovable goofball. Ive had 3 rotty's, and never had a prob with any of them.
