And it''s beautiful! Worth the wait. But I missed you all and all the antics here. .Still coping with the loss of Buckwheat. What is the concensus? Should i get another one? I met a man at the auction who sells them for 25 bucks..Of course I'd have to have it gelded so Honey wouldn't have a mule baby!!!!!
She's talking about her donkey that recently passed. (buckwheat) She's trying to decide if she should get another. I think she has a horse or a donkey that could possibly mate w/ a donkey if she gets one.
Honey seems to be doing better with the loss of Buckwheat than I am. Sometimes she's a brat, kind of narcisistic.( and yeah it's spelled wrong.)
Hoeny is a horse, so if I got a donkey, he would breed her and she would have a mule. Not the worst thing that could happen, but I'd rather geld him anyway, it settles them down much as a dog.
And the job...I'm still waiting for an opening on the "A" shift. It's the most popular so the openings are far and few between. I'm a patient person and I do keep in touch with the human resources dept..schmoozing...cards and calls and stuff. But the bus ain't a bad temporary gig and i still work the surgery center in Dallas on Saturdays
schoolbus gal, do you have firsthand experience with mules?
Would love to ask you some questions if you do. I'll check back later and post a separate thread if the answer is yes.
I think it would be great to have another little donkey to keep Honey company, but I am absolutely the worst person to consult as I have NO, Zero, None restraint where equines are concerned. Maybe I could interest you in a really nice arab as a companion........
Honey 1 thanks for your suggestions, but i live in Texas which is a little more conservative..Country Texas..even MORE conservative. This gentleman who has the 25 dollar donkeys has a market for these little jacks. People here who own cattle ranches buy them to guard the calves. They get decent homes on these ranches. Also, Jennies are more expensive to purchase than the jacks for that reason alone. The reason they're 25 bucks is because most folks don't want to pay to geld them. I prefer the jacks cause they have cute personalities once you tame them down. Sorry I leave shelter animals and BLM to others. They have too many restrictions and clauses. Here in Country Texas, when you say you'll care for an animal, your word is good enough. And I don't need someone checking up on me to see what kind of home I give to my pets. That smacks of BIG BROTHER ( communism)
