Good luck from one who has used them in the past and needs to get new ones. I think Roxy, my wire fox terror, hid hers after our camping trip last year. So far only one of my two minis has the tendency to be a yapper, but I'm sure that will change.
For Kiba... I think its because I didnt really socialize her well as a pup (didnt know any better)... and its just a way of her saving "Hey you! come here and pet me" becuase she just melts when they get to her and start loving on her.
Please keep us posted. I have 4 Poms I am considering getting them for. I have tried muzzles, crating, etc. nothing seems to work. They just feed off of each other when they are outside, making a horrible racket.
That's how most minis I have met are, including mine. Cooper & Tucker actually bark more when they know the person b/c they are so excited and want to visit. After the person pets them, they are fine. I just need to work on Coop not barking at every dog we pass on a walk. He is sooo embarrassing, Tucker is fine and Roxy the terror is great with other dogs, just not ones that live with her.
Strangers that come to the house they wont stop unless they love on them. People that they know can just come in the house and they wont say a thing, and Kiba will go in for the cuddle. Stryder is a nervous little guy, trying to work on it with him. Though he did try to hump my brothers friends leg so I guess that's a start. LMAO.
MY friend that has schnauzers does the same thing.... they just get so excited that they dont shut up... then roo roo at you for yelling at them.
My min pin Ruby is a barker for attention too but I couldnt live w/myself if I put a bark collar on my "child". I tell ppl shes my "overly vocal child" haha. As stupid as it is, I would never discourage her from barking bc its part of her squirky lil personality.
