I just found out yesterday that Scruff has lyme disease. I noticed a few days ago that he didn't want to stand on his back legs, and the next day he started yiping and refused to jump.
At first the vet thought it was bad knees since they floated around and popped back in place, and then he discovered lyme.
Could lyme disease have caused his knee problems, and will this go away with treatment? The vet seemed very vague about everything. He seems to be doing better, but he still won't jump up on anything. I'm not sure if it's because he's still in pain or if he just remembers how it felt the last time.
He's also on anti-inflamatory medication for 5 days. I'll have to see how he reacts when that's gone.

Riley had lyme disease but it never effected his joints. He was very tired all the time and wouldn't eat. (I remember everyone telling me it was ebcause he was maturing, but I was right! something was wrong!) The antibiotics took a long time but he started to feel better only a few days into it.
Give him a couple weeks, if hes still in pain take him back to the vet to have them take another look. Hope he feels better!
Hunter had lymes disease last year and the vet put him on doxycyline also along with rimadyl (for the inflamation in his joints) It took a few days but he recovered very well, cant tell he ever was sick. my neighbors dog daisy on the other hand was not so lucky. She has permanant joint damage. She is only 3 but acts like she is about 15. Good Luck!!!
Scruff has been more active tonight than normal, chasing after his toys and trying to jump up and catch them.
He still doesn't want to jump up on the couch, but that could be psychological since he still remembers the pain from last time.
He's an overall happy and healthy dog, so I hope he fully recovers. I'm just kind of worried about his joints and possible long-term damage. Maybe he'll get back to normal after the infection clears...
