Well, in the two years since I've had Scruff we've had at least $1000 in vet bills. Now that he has Lyme Disease I find out that he may need surgery on both legs, costing $1,200 per leg. I think it would be a good idea to get him insured to cover all this, at least until he gets his surgery.
I'm wondering if someone knows of a better plan or if this one is ok and will pay for his future surgery. It'll be over $300 per year, but with his allergy and now leg problems, I think it'll be worth it.

I have PetCare which is from petco. I pay about $25 a month and it covers accidents, nonpreventable illness, they will also give you a certain amount of money if the dog is ever lost (to help find the dog). They had other levels too that cost more a month.
But they wanted me to have all of my dog's vet records sent to them.
They will not cover illnesses that the pet had before I enrolled. So I don't think this will be good fo you. I think the website is www.petcareinsurance.com.
