When I was Prego with David. the doc told me to have my hubby bring home something from the Hospital that smelt like the baby ie hat booties something, before I got home with him. This was so our cat can used to this smell and not be alarmed by it when we bought him home. Question though have they ever shown signs of aggression or any behavior problems? Congrats on being an Aunt!
The first 3 days we came home with a new baby, our dog went absolutely CRAZY. She was convinced that what we had was a giant squirrel (it made all kinds of little sounds) which we were keeping from her. She tried to climb into our bed incessantly for 3 nights to get to the baby, and we were seriously starting to worry she might have to go.
But after 3 days, she calmed down and stopped being so weird. However, it was a month before I would even leave the baby in the same room with her for a second--just to be sure. Now she just licks the baby's (bald) head a lot but NEVER bothers him, though any time she hears me cooing at the baby, she comes running--seemingly jealous!. I can't imagine what it is like to be a 10-pound infant and see a happy 10 inch GSD tongue coming at you...lol
