Our puppy has been scratching excessively and the vet recommended that we treat for fleas. On top of frontline, he suggested that we use a fogger and put down a powder containing sodium borate. but this is what i don't understand- am i supposed to use these things and keep my puppy out from licking the floors and surfaces? am i supposed to clean all the surfaces again after we fog? how do i keep the puppy from ingesting the products?
As a vet tech I think all that is over kill. I have been to many flea contuning ed meetings. If you use a great product such as Frontline Plus and use it for at least the flea season, you should not have a problem. Just vaccum every place the pet has been and clean the bedding and remeber to throw out the vaccum bag and every thing will be fine!! All the other stuff is a waste. Over the count flea control does not work and is a waste of money and a lot of pets have terrible reactions to the products also. I have seen this first hand and even seen death from it. Good luck!!
i did read the instructions on the back of the products, and they say only to air out our home-nothing about surfaces...hence, my question.
maywoo- thank you for the advice. this puppy is very mouthy and must taste everything. i am very concerned about using things that will cover all surfaces! i will stick with frontline and vacumning/steamcleaning and see what happens. i would hate to use something that could potentially hurt my dog.
