My 11-week Yorkie was found with worms in his stool. He's is only 1.35lb so we can only give him 1/8 of a pill at a time. He seems to be in discomfort cuz he started to whimper all the time. It just hurts me since i can't do anything for him.
Do you guys know anything about the worm Coccidia or Giardia? He seems to have both but can only be treated one thing at a time because he is so puny. Are these worms stubborn?? Will they leave soon??
worming is a long process. I have battled them all summer with Blaze. I even treated her for Coccidia. This is a mico paresite that eats away in the intestines. Salfer type of med will help with this. It helped but then she came down with round worms. I gave her safegaurd for this.
I have two dogs and most of the time there are three here because of my son's dog also.
I keep the yard picked up of all poop and still have a problem with this because Blaze stocks and eats every insect she can find. I'm really hoping that since it freezes at night the insects will be gone and i can lick this problem once and for all.
Wiley never did get them. You also have to put them on two different types of wormers. This is what my vet said.
Alternating them once a month. Also store bought wormers do not work with me.
I'm sure your dog is inside most of the time and you will be able to get rid of this crap.
Is your vet helping? I vet with two so I feel better that my problem will be resolved.
Cociddia is actually a protozoa that flurishes in the intestine. It can be very uncomfrotable, cause constant dirreah and its a pain to work through.
Have him rechecked at the vet, make sure hes not just whining to twist you around his paw. Very common in yorkies, they are minuplitive little creatures.
The oral liquid taks about a week to process. I had a stray kitty with horrible, horribe coccidia one year, poor thing litterly dripped poo and was so uncomfrotable and would cry and want to be picked up.
Make sure hes getting enough water.
Said kitty is fine, shes five now and sitting about 10 feet away from me.
