well ive gotton on line and tried to find aout alittle more about this mix- and cant seem to find much about them-
it always brings me back to a maltese and poodle mix.
well im sending my deposit today for one of these mix bichon and maltese- we have to drive about a hour and 1/2 away to get her so we talked with the lady thats selling them and she said if we sent a deposit she would hold us a female till saturday till were able to go get her.
shes 9 weeks old.
i already have a bichon and toy poodle mix and hes the love of our life-
so were wanting to add a female to our family.
i know many ppl dont like these mixed breeds but i do and im soooo excieted to get her. i want to go today but hubby has to work so i keep begging to go today.
i thought the asking price was fair 375.00 she wants a 175.00 deposit.
im going to over night the check today so she knows were serouis and really want her.
any one have one? any baby pic and grown up pic?
the lady told me that each parent weighed 13 pounds so im assuming she will weigh the same when she is grown.

*blinks* both parents weighed 13 lbs? So they bred a 13 lb maltese??? That's like... 2x as big as a normal maltese!

Why not just buy a maltese or a bichon?

Then you will know what they will look like when they get older AND you can research until you find a healthy wellbred one.

You know, there are dogs (including your VERY desired mix) in shelters with death sentences that only cost about a hundred bucks spayed/neutered, with all their shots.

Why support byb when you could save a life. Seems to me that is what a fellow educated animal lover would do.....
It would be worth a shot to me if I was looking for a mutt or even another purebred dog at that.

i have contacted my local dog pound in hopes i would find a mix breed im looking for or a pure breed. I have also contacted a few rescues in our area and they do contact me threw email with dogs they find to see if im interested but they arent what im looking for and also to old or they cant be arund other pets or kids,
so this is what ive decided to do. There are alot of ppl on this forum that have mixed breed dogs that do buy them. Ive never heard of some one i know finding what they are looking for at a shelter or threw a rescue, believe me ive been trying for months to find the right puppy for our family. again i am sorry that you dont think this is right but i really like these mixed breeds better then a pure breed as i said before and i dont see anything wrong with it. Im not breeding them. Everyone has something that they complain about and that i support byb. I dont think i would consider this a byb
this was a mistake breeding and she only breeds her maltese to her maltese and her bichon to her bichon and this is why she has this liter that i was told about by a lady ive gotton to know from the groomers.

yes i do already have a mix breed dog that i bought and hes a great dog , no problems he isnt all deformed or this rotton dog just because he is mixed.
i dont know why every one is so p$ssy all the time when it comes to a mixed breed ? i dont buy these dogs and rehome them or dont take care of them or breed them and sale them, my dog is very well cared for. im sorry there are so many dogs in the shelters, i didnt put them there- again i have looked and i do get emails from rescues and shelters that ive contacted but they arent what im looking for. im looking for a young pup not a 10 year old mix that hates other dogs and ppl.
as alot of ppl stated before its hard to find young pure bred dog in a shelter they are normally gone as soon as they get there, believe me ive been looking at their website daily for years off and on and i have never seen anything to even close of what im looking for. why would i settle for a breed or a mix i dont want? it istn my fault that these dogs dont have homes i do feel bad for them believe me but i cant take in every homeless dog just so ppl will stop putting me down because of the choice of dogs i like. im sorry that i dont fit into this pure bred club and anyone that doenst have a pure bred just gets kicked in the butt when they are just excieted about getting a new pup -

has she done health testing on both her dogs, are they OFAed for knees or elbows, CERFed for eyes? Does she offer a health guarantee of at least 2 years on their health? If the answers to all these questions is no, then she's a BYB. She may be a well-meaning BYB with beloved family pets, but no health testing and no guarantee mean you do NOT want to get your dog from them, regardless of whether it is purebred or mixed breed.

That is INCORRECT! I would say 99% of the people on here LOVE mixed breeds when saved from a shelter. People (on here) are NOT impressed with overpaying on a dog that could be gotten for hundreds less at a shelter.

I had a mixed dog growing up and loved the little girl to death. I still feel sad when I think of her. Mixed breeds are great dogs and no one on here will say different. They will say it is stupid (or ignorant) to buy one from a breeder.

And for $375 you could save 2 dogs or save one and donate the rest to a shelter. That is sad.

omg! here we go again... i didnt know that this was a forum about where you bought your dogs from and if they are pure breed and akc and this and that? i must of over looked that in the rules and guidelines to this forum.

a dog is a dog no matter what the parents or where he was bought or what color he is. I come on this forum to learn about my puppy and also to share things about my puppy.
there are alot of mixed breed owners on here and most have bought their dogs i have read in posts.
but some are ok and some arnt?

i have told you that i have been in contact for months with rescues in my area and also shelters- again im not taking in a old 10+ year old dog something im not even looking for.
no this lady doesnt live in cadallic she is down by grand rapids. and again this was a accidental breeding, her maltese is akc and also her bichon. this is the first liter that these 2 dogs have had because she doenst breed them together.
yes the parents have been tested and all of that because she breeds her maltese and i have heard nothing but good things about this lady and her dogs, even tho the dogs are all pure bred but this liter.
im sorry that i tick you off because i like these mixed bred dogs . i dont want a pure bred and i like something obout each the bichon and also maltese. my other mix is half bichon and hes the greatest dog ever and so friendly adn play ful and every healthy. so i of coarse hope the new pup will be as healthy and wonderful as bentley has been.
yes bentley is fixed im not breeding them. for all of you that are wondering.
im not supporting any byb or going to petstores buying up all these dogs- i was wanting anther dog and i was told about this lady .
i dont know why i have stayed on this forum i dont get this slack from any other site anywhere. i go to the bichon forum they hae never once siad oh your dog is a mutt and we only want akc dogs posted on this site , they take any one and are frienly- also poodles since bentley is also part poodle again no one has ever told me that i didnt belong there and my dog isnt a akc poodle . you dont get that from anywhere but here. as many new ppl come and post and then are chased away after the first post.
i didnt know when i joined that this site was only for ppl that had pure breed dogs and i see the cliques in this forum and know whos the mean ppl and the ones that are nice and try to help.

The way you are getting your dogs, is wrong. And very uneducated, especially after being on this site so long. You haven't learned a thing.
You are not an advocate for animals well being apparently, because if you were it would have hit you right in the heart and you would never repeat these stupid moves over and over again.

Oh and good for you, you found a site that is less educated then the people on here. Maybe you should link them here so they can let things go in one ear and out the other.

I recommend you go visit a shelter. Then google the words "Puppymill pictures" and then, do a search to find reputable breeders since your shelter seems to be so low on mixed breeds.

And you are still dodging the question about your "breeder" and genetic testing.

the point is totally lost isn't it ? this is not a purebred elitist forum. i am not a purebred elitust either. in my adult life i have owned 6 dogs, 5 mixed breeds and 1 purebred. the purebred was gotten from a breeder and the 5 mixed breeds were gotten where they should be gotten from, a shelter, pound, and one was thrown out of a moving vehicle when he was a pup. the mixed breeds were not gotten from someone who bred them to jump on the designer breed bandwagon and make money. this is not about being against mixed breeds, this is about where the dogs are gotten from. i can't explain it any simpler then that.

as far as your other board is concerned, i have yet to meet a responsible breeder of ANY breed encourage mix breeding practices and not try to educate people against doing what you are doing. either these people are talking about it behind your back or they are ignorant. either way i would rather have the info straight forward, whether i choose to accept it or not.

i do sincerely wish you the best with your new pup. i know it is very exciting to be getting a new puppy. i just hate the way in which you are going about it, but i wouldn't take it out on bentley or your new one.

Tapetty, you're missing the point. People here are not against mixed breeds. They're against irresponsible breeding...period.

Is the breeder with the "accidental litter" selling these puppies? If so, for how much?

If it's an adoption fee to ensure a good home, it shouldn't be over $150, in my opinion. Anything over that amount for a mutt, is someone looking for some quick cash.

The only time I would EVER pay over $150 for a mutt, mixed breed, whatever you want to call it, is if I got it from a shelter and it was already altered, had its shot and all that.

She is 100% in it for the money, just like the disabled kids she has for the money. She is a real fruitloop.

I have nothing against mixed breed dogs. During my lifetime around purebred dogs we have always had a heinz 57 dog around we never paid for them though, but they were cherished just as much.

No one has an issue with mixed breeds, but apparently you aren't listening.

You keep picking skeazy places to buy from, therefore you haven't learned anything at all.

If this 'breeder was breeding a 13 pound maltese.. even if this was an 'accident' she or he sounds mighty skeazy since that's no where near a normal size and shouldn't be being bred to martians, cattle or anything else you think should be a cute mixed breed mutt.
