Sherlock does look like a field bred English. They ARE crazy full of energy. My Spencer is a bench English (parents are Champions and shown but they also hunt). I think your rescue is near Houston? It's too bad Sherlock is not in California because many people like to hunt with field English Setters there. They are great pheasant dogs.
I have two small children (2and 4) and I must say y'all are scaring me! I'm hoping to get a corgi puppy in 3-4 years and am terrified of being refused due to having small children. My kids are well "trained" with animals because I will tolerate nothing less. I do agree there are many red flags in the application however before making a final decision I think talking to the her is in order. It appears that is what you are planning. Good Luck with your rescue operation. I admire those of you who give your time and love to these poor souls who need that second chance!
I just wanted to update this post since I said I would let you guys know what happened. I called her vet and there were no records for either one of her pets. I checked under her name her husbands name and under her parents names and nothing came up under any of them.
Well I gave her the benefit of the doubt and sent her an e-mail asking if she or her parents had used another vet for her current pup. What do you know here it is one week later with no response.
Oh well . . .
Just thought you guys would like to know what happened.
