Yes, this time when we were getting our pup I got a smaller dog because I realize I am getting older and it was hard for me to get our 70 lb. dog into the car when he wasn't feeling well and had to go to the vets and such so I knew this time we had to get a smaller dog, nothing wrong with smaller dogs just knew I wouldn't be able to handle a larger one in a few years and I plan on having a dog till the day I die! Can not imagine life without a dog!
I had dogs/cats all the time growing up and my husband and I have had dogs all together maybe 12 yrs. out of our 30 years together. After we had to have our Cocker Spaniel PTS in 1995 I swore I would NEVER have another dog again because it hurts too much to lose them. But then my son came home one day with the tiniest ,cutest little Beagle Puppy and all of you who have any experience at all with Beagles know all about their charm:). She is now 1 1/2 yrs. old and we cannot imagine a life without her. Her name is Molly, and she is a big baby:) I would love to have another dog and maybe we will get another one someday but I work so much it would be hard to work with the housetraining. But I am a TOTAL dog lover!!!:)
dbtj*** what kind of puppy do you have? I am sure you have posted info about it but I haven't been on TP much the last few months.
dbtj*** I don't know anything about Rottweilers (sp) but they are beautiful dogs. I have had several dogs but in my experience there is No puppy I don't think more hyper than a Beagle!!!:) When Molly was a baby..OMG you don't know how many times I just sat down and cried!! She was awful. But even she finally did calm down so I hope yours does too. You made me laugh with your comment about the worm farm:) Good luck!!!
Yes, I will always have a dog, or dogs. The only time I didn't have a dog was after I moved out on my own and wasn't in the right situation to have one. I did get a cat when I was 19 and he moved many places with me and lived to be almost 20.
I can't imagine my life without a dog. However, I guess when I am much, much older, I may choose to not have one simply for the fact that I would not want my dog to outlive me... but then again, I may have to make a deal with my son that he'll take my dog should I pass away... we'll see. But I love my dogs and don't think that life could ever be as good without one...
I can't even imagine life with just a single dog/cat. It would be terrible to only have one let alone NONE. I am a lifer! Hopefully i will never get to the point where i am too old or crippled to have pets. I'd be saying "pull the plug" if i couldn't take care of my pets!
I have finally weaned myself to having 2 dogs and 3 cat, some fish, and some turtles. I have been pretty much homebound with all my rescued menagerie of cats and dogs that I have seriously considered not having any more dogs, cats, etc. I'm getting older, now, and would like to be able to travel some. I am open to the idea of just fostering dogs and cats for animal rescue as they transition into new homes. More than likely my gang will outlive me and my traveling legacy will consist of only trips to Super WalMart.
