my dogs are free fed. i keep the dry food, and water down for them during the day. i take the food up around 8:00 in the evening and put it back down when i get up in the morning. they get various treats throughout the day, but nothing after 8:00.
i used to feed mine once a day, but they started raiding the fridge. the morning i got up to find them sitting around the table, finishing off the bacon and eggs that i was planning for my own breakfast, was the last straw. they told me if i had just kept their food down for them all the time, they wouldnt have to cook up all of mine ! so thats why i free feed.............
bentley is 11 months old and i feed him 3x a day. small portions. and daisy she is 11 weeks old and the vet wants me to feed her many times threw out the day small portions- she hasnt been feeling well and getting over coccida. but i will feed her 3 times a day to when her diet will get normal
i use to feed bentley only 2 times a day but he was very hungry and would eat the cat food so now i feed him 3x a day and he doesnt even touch the cat food any more. he eats those nasty little ceaser dishes and there isnt much food in them hes about 6.5 pounds so im assuming thats about right for his weight. he surly isnt chunky at all hes a real thin pup. and daisy does seem to be gaining weight but she was real sick when we got her and malnurished and under weight so her eating many times threw out the day is really making her chunky- shes on a low residue adult dog food from the vets and also rice and chicken and rice and hamburger- im wondering if adult food will make her chunky? she goes back to the vet this coming week last week we were in she weighed 3 pounds shes filling out i swear the porker must weigh 5 pounds now...lol just joking.. but from the condition i got her and now she has put on some weight..
Lady I still try to feed at least 3 times a day, sometimes more if she seems interested. Kaycee gets fed twice a day, and Buddy only gets fed once....since he is obviously eating somewhere else as well lol.
