Our catahoula mix stays loose in the house at night since she is trustworthy not to poop/pee on the floors. Throughout the night she must pace back and forth thru the house tho bc she gets things out of the trash (@@), gets random things out of other rooms and leaves them in a pile beside the bed for my mom to wake up to in the morning and is just as happy as can be wagging her tail like "look what all I brought you!" haha..
yeah my cat catches mice sometimes, kills them and puts their dead limp little bodys on my chest when i sleep.then i wake up in the morning to find them on me and he is just sitting there staring at me.
My female bluetick coonhound used to do something similar while I was at work. She'd search the house for a specific "category" of items and I'd come home to a pile of them in the middle of my bed. One day it would be all of the bars of soap in the house. Another day it would be fruit. Whatever was in the fruit bowl would be taken and placed in the bed. She found the winter hats and gloves one day. I got a bit more serious about discouraging it when she decided I'd just love a nice pile of shoes and boots - yuck! Occasionally she would neatly arrange these gifts in a neat row down the hallway which wasn't too bad if you knew enough to turn the light on before trying to go down the hallway.
