He is a 15 month old havanese. He is stubborn, and I would say "dominant" in the house. He still puts teeth on our skin when he is really excited and happy--it doesn't hurt at all, but I don't want him doing this. It scares people, and when the cleaning ladies come in on Tuesdays, I have to take him out for the day, because the high pitched barking, and jumping up on them is bad. He has been fixed, but will still get an erection when they come in also--along with the high pitched barking and jumping. Because he is so picky with food I have resorted to putting a bil jac liver treat on the kibble, or parmesan cheese, etc., but because of his other behavioral problems, I cannot keep doing this. He bites the leash when we walk and sticks his paw through it, and it's a real sight. When I try and correct him, he could care less, he goes right back and does it. He growls when you pick him up off the couch to go in his crate at night. The past 2 days, I put the kibble down in the morning and he sniffs it and walks away. He has eaten his 1/2 cup kibble at night though--of course not right away, he waits a few mins. to see if he's getting anything on it. I'm just venting, but if anybody has any suggestions.....

Sound like you have quite a few problems with this dog. He seems to be running the house hold. I think you need to get him into some training classes. Check your area for good behavioral trainers. It will be worth it in the long run.

As far as the food goes. Don't give in. He will eat sooner or later. Dogs will not starve themselves. Mine went almost a week with just a few nibbles here and there till she finally understood that that is all she was getting so she might as well eat.

Now she will still play that game,but I don't give her any treats until she has eaten her food.
