I had Hilo's checkup last night (for those who don't know/remember we had to bring her to the emergency vet on Thanksgiving day). She is doing great and the vet said she is completely healthy!
Anyway, a woman was bringing her new puppy from Save A Pet and mentioned to the nurse that when she got him he had kennel cough and he was on meds for it. The nurse asked her to keep the dog outside, so as not to infect the other dogs (I think she said this b/c of Hilo...we were the only ones in the waiting room).
But my question is how contagious is it? Hilo was wrapped in a blanket and when I heard this, I put the blanket over her head! I just can't have her getting sick again. The nurse didn't say anything to us and the woman kept her dog in the car until they were called in.
I recieved my puppy from a shelter, and in the beginning she was doing fine, but when the day we were suppose to bring her home she got kennel cough from another dog. It is very contagious, but in the small cages it is easier to get the sickness, so i would be cautious.

That's a good idea. She's only 3 months now and with smaller dogs, my vet likes to do each shot separately so we are just finishing her distemper (one more to go and we'll move on to the next). I'll ask about the KC vacc.
