I found a dog wondering the streets last night near my neighborhood, and i was taking my friend home when i saw it, and i asked him what i should do, he said nothing. so then on my way back from dropping him off, i saw the dog again, and i had to pull over to see if it had tags or anything. it had 3 tags and 2 of them were for a vet office near where i live, and the other one was from texas, which i just figured people moved here from texas. there was a lady outside in my neighborhood, and she said she had 2 dogs already or she would have taken it in, and im in the same situation. and so i put the dog in my car to get warm, and then we looked in the phonebook for the non emergency police number. so i called and they told me to bring the dog in, so i did. and im just wondering what happens with the dog there. i mean what do they do if they cant find the owners? i was thinking about calling and seeing how the dog is and if anybody has called in, but didnt know if one day was enough time.

I think the dog sits in a jail cell untill the owners are tracked down If they cant find the owners then they would probly go to the ound.
someone on here posted not to long ago that there dog spent the night in jail. the dog got out and a cop picked it up so he drove around with the dog for a wile and finaly took it to jail were they called the owners.
there isnt a dog shelter near by to tell you the truth, its aleast a 45-one hour drive, but there is a kennel that i work at that is like 15 minutes away, and its also a police dog training place, so i will have to check there tonight when i go in to work!
hopefully it had some caring owners that picked it up already!
i called the non emergency police number which is the number i called to ask what to do with the dog. They told me that nobody had claimed the dog, and they had given it to the "dog warden" and then if its not claimed, then it will be given to "orphans of the storm", which is an animal shelter
