This ad just ran in the Providence Journal local paper. 11 week old female english bulldog puppy for sale for $500. The only way to reply to the ad was by an email address: (dont post peopel's emails) - When I emailed him, he emailed me back that he was now in Africa and sent me 2 pictures of a beautiful english bulldog puppy. He wanted me to Western union $600 total for the puppy and shipping and stated that I would receive her on Thursday but I needed to western union the money today. I am quite concerned and before I send money to anyone, is there any way I can find out if this is legit? Karen

Scam..........you see these all the time, just different breeds and different countries. This was just on 20/20 the other night, not about dogs, but about how they scam you into sending money Western Union, and you end up with nothing.

There is no way in the world that someone in Africa would be able to sell and ship you a dog for $500. This is a very common scheme--the clues are that they are from Africa and want the money sent Western Union. They demand payment TODAY to prevent you from having enough time to learn that it is a scam.
Run! Buy a bulldog from a reputable breeder in your area that you can see, personally, before you purchase. This is very very important!
Better yet, there are so many animals living in shelters--see if you can rescue one from a high-kill shelter in your area. You can gain a companione AND save a life.
I breed English Bulldogs and if you found one that is healthy for $500, it has to be a scam. I've never seen bulldogs for under $1400 that are healthy. I would find a good breeder closer to you so you can go and see where the puppy lives and its parents. Good Luck!

They are also running it out of Jersey (Some chrisitian entity) IT IS A SCAM. On my emails back tO them I have informed them that I knew they were scamming and that I have reported them.
