Yep...you read that right lol. We didn't even get 3hrs away from home when we stopped at the gas station to fill up...while there I decided since Joe and Morgan had gone in I would walk Oliver really quick. Kenzie was asleep in her car seat so I grabbed the keys and locked the car. After I walked Oliver I went to the trunk to check on Fluffy who unfortunatly found herself rideing there; her cage was too big lol. I ended up dropping the keys into the trunk and then shutting it! Yep there we were no keys to get in and without a clue as to what to do. I ended up spotting a 5gal. bucket so DH was able to use the handle to hit the unlock button. Thankfully Maknezie slept through the whole ordeal. Ugh did I feel like crap though. We're definatly glad to be here, and the trip wasn't toooo bad lol. I've gotten quite a few pictures sofar, so I'll have plenty of posting to do when we get home!
Glad to hear that the family is ok after the ordeal. I would suggest buying a smaller carrier and letting Fluffy ride in the car if you are going to bring her anywhere else. I don't know if Fluffy is a cat or a dog, but she shouldn't be shut in the trunk while transporting. Fine if you have to put her empty carrier in the trunk, but please don't subject an animal to riding in there. I'm sure you would feel awful if you opened the trunk and found her unresponsive.
Hope the trip home is a little easier on all of you.
yep, thank you ruffian, the seats do flip forward...which is why I allowed Fluffy to ride in the trunk. Every time we stopped I opened the trunk to give her fresh air. This was just a one way trip for Fluffy anyway, she came came down here to go to her new home. It was safer for her to be in the trunk than it was to have her crated in the backseat because I would've had to of sat against the airbag lol.
Just so you don't feel too bad, it happens to all of us. Last time for me, it happened in the grocery store parking lot. Took two hours for family to figure it out and come help me. Cell phone was in the car in my purse. From now on, the keys go in my POCKET!!!
Oh ya I guess that I should add that I did it too, I was putting the dogs in the trunk, the seats were flipped open and they always rode in there, and dropped hte keys in and slam, and it was running too.
