How do some of you know that she is getting her dog from a BYB. I read her question and she didnt mention a BYB she mention a type of dog she wants and how to train it I hope you get the dog you want your the one paying the money good luck.
Thank you moneymaker for your concerns and encouragement. I dont think that she is the top breeder out there, but i know she isnt the worst. She is a nice lady and does take good care of her dogs, maybe not the way some think she should. But at the time i didnt know much about the whole breeding process and i should have read up on it before making the decision about the cavalier. But i do think her dogs are healthy and cared for, and i like the cockapoo.
LOR, do you think that because someone mixes two breeds that they are considered a byb? I am still new at this and i dont know everything, but why couldnt you mix? Just want to know.
OK here we go, if you dont think like most of the people on here you might as well stay off this board cause they dont care about being truthful, without hurting people, all they know is being rude. Not everyone on here of coarse but several. Good luck with your new pup.
I appreciate it wallysworld, I am not the type to be rude but if someone comes at me rude than I will come back with what i belive is truthful and if it is rude i am sorry. I just wanted to know the best way to house train my puppy and there were a few who said to crate train and were helpful and then there were the rude ones who didnt believe in me getting a mixed breed and thought i was supporting the byb. I just came on here for advice on house training and boy i didnt realize what i was getting my self into. But thank you for your kind words and help.
Maybe we should split this forum up into 2 groups the ones that really want to help and the ones that just want to start a problem. I have already figured out that I am going to ingnore them and not even respond to them. They arent worth the time.
Anyone that mixes two breeds together is a BYB yes. Why? There are plenty of mutts in the shelters already, we don't need more. Besides the fact it's all a scam.... they say they do it so they can be "hypoallergenic". Uh no. Taking a poodle (which is good for people with allergies) and mixing it with a cocker spaniel (which is not good for people with allergies) does not equal a dog thats hypoallergenic. Besides the fact you are taking two totally different temperaments and the health issues that go with each breed and mixing it all together. It doesnt equal a happy health dog.
I think splitting up into 2 groups is a good idea, and I am with you on the ignoring the ones who just want to critisize everyone and be out right mean. It is sad you have to worry about being judged and never know when someone is going to blow up at you.
Do you know if your $500 is non-refundable? That is a lot of money to be out. I would have to say that you already purchased the little one. Also, I personally know of 3 cockapoos and they are actually quite nice dogs.
LOR, i can understand what your saying and i dont disagree nesessarily. I know there are plenty of mutts in the shelters and i sympathize with that. But I already have $500 into it and have to pick something from her, so i decided on the cockapoo. Besides if for some reason it didnt work out with the dog i wouldnt turn him into the shelter anyways. I would find someone i knew or a resue group to take him. But i am hoping he does work out for us and i will love him regardless.
lovemypom, yes my $500 is nonrefundable and i really dont just have $500 to throw around so i feel that i needed to pick out something that i thought would be best for our family, so i did. I am glad to hear that you have had a good experience with the cockapoo, i am hoping he is going to be good, and i think he will, its all in the way you raise and treat them.
Wally, that sounds like a good idea, i really dont feel like arguing with anyone. I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
LOR, the first one i got from her was a cavalier that was already 5months old and she was so timid and scared of everyone. I guess i am hoping that because this one will be a baby that hopefully he wont have those same issues and he will be raised with a good family. The other one had already lived 5months with the breeder and i dont know why she was that way. I am just keeping my fingers crossed, and no the money is nonrefundable.
chances are the next dog you get from her will be very much the same.
I'd take the 500 as a loss-it is a big loss but its better than having the dog for a year or a month or however long and then having the severe behavior or health problems byb dogs often come with-especially if you already experienced some of these behavioral problems.
And since you are getting this as a fmaily dog its even mroe important that you get a well bred dog. You could be the best owner in the world and a badly bred pup may never come around. When you have kids its a really big risk.

When i was a little girl we were given a cockapoo, by the lady across the street, they where moving and could not take it with. It was the best dog. loyal, smart, sweet, the best kind of dog you can ask for she lived to be 16 years old,her name was Brandy and to this day i still think of her. I do not agree with people charging such high prices for there dogs, especially a mix breed, i realize that it costs money to breed, but some are just exuberant. good luck with your puppy.
I'm not for mix breeding on purpose-BUT if you are set on it there are much better breeders than this lady.At least find someone who only breeds one breed and who spends time with the dogs-thats not possible with more than a couple dogs. Labs are great family dogs but have been ruined by bybs. Chances are any dog from this lady will have issues.
This isn't really a mix breeding issue but a bad breeder one.
And I bet if you sent her an officaila looking registered letter asking for your money back you may get it.
Lisah-thanks for that, i really do appeciate it, i do agree that charging these prices are ridiculous. But i already had the $500 in it so i am going to go with the cockapoo. I believe he will be a good dog, i am trying to think positve. I have read alot of good things about them and as with any dog there can always be issues. I am glad you had a good experience with one, and i am sorry for your loss. Have a Merry Christmas!
