i had left some pork chops out to defrost for tonites dinner. while i was out this evening one of the dogs got into them and as far as i can tell ate one of them. with the 3 dogs i have no idea which one of them ate the one. one was left on the counter and one was found on the floor still wrapeed up and no tears in the bags ( they were each wrapped individually ).
i have given them raw chicken and beef in the past but i have never given them raw pork because i thought i had read that pork is not good for them.
too late for the vomiting routine because i have no idea how long ago it was eaten and it has probably been digested already.
i have a feeling it was scout .... she is the worst when it comes to eating things she shouldnt ... mainly MY DINNER !! lol.
As there was no bones in the pork I'm sure whichever of your dogs ate it will be fine. I'm sure the risk is trichinosis, but since the meat was barely thawed, the flukes probably werent' alive. Trichinosis is pretty rare nowdays anyway given better inspection practices.
thanks mafia. i appreciate you answering me so fast. i will watch out for the runs with all of them and bring home some meds just in case. figures i have nothing in the house that i need when i may need it.
ROFL ... yes i lost a pot roast one halloween thanks to scout GRRR .... that time the meat was fully cooked, which would have ticked me off even more tonite.
i usually defrost with the water too because i never remember to take stuff out in enough time to thaw it out in the fridge ... you know CRS lol. but today i actually remembered tho not in enough time for the fridge deal so i left them out.
well no apparent illness from the pork. none of them had diarrhea today or are acting like they werent feeling well. so i still dont know for sure who ate it but whomever it was , it didnt bother him/her at all. in general, none of the raw food i have ever fed them has bothered them but they have never had the pork before.
