This is Dori's first Christmas, and I have just now put up my tree because I was afraid of what she might do. I put the tree up by myself and Dori is eating the pine needles faster than I can pick them up!! This puppy won't eat her food (Wellness) but she surely will eat anything else in site. Will they hurt her? Anyone else having this problem?
Well I know they aren't poisonous to your dog. The only thing you really need to worry about is them getting the needles stuck in the throat. Donít let the dogs eat the needles like some type of vacuum cleaner.
I do recommend putting some type of gate around the tree if you can. But if you cant then just vacuum the pine needles up and try to keep your dog away from the tree.
On another note your dog seems like a puppy so it is very important that you put all the lights and bulbs up and away from your dogs reach. If they chew on them they can eat the plastic and that can get shocked or worse they can die.
Your best bet would be putting a gate around the tree and keeping the dog out of the room that the tree is in.
p.s. the faster you teach your dog that itís not ok to eat the pine needles the faster this problem goes away and you donít neeed to worry about it next year. Itís better for them and you.
