Does anyone have any info on scottish terriers?? My mom likes this breed and i was wondering if you guys have or do own any or have any info on them that only an owner could give (stories ,personalities) things like that
Let me see if I can help. Scotties are wonderful active little dogs. But, I think sometimes people just get a glimspe of the ideal perfect scottie and don't bother researching beyond that. Scotties usually are more loyal to one person, but do well in a family setting. Depending on the temperment, which can vary quite a bit, even within a litter, they may not be suited to young children if they are too aloof or headstrong. They can be a wonderful companion and guardian too for a child, so be very selective in choosing. I usually recommend that either a family have owned a terrier or scottie before placing one. If I have one that seems wonderfully agreeable, then I'll look to place it with a first time owner. They can be headstrong and stubborn. They are most likely not a dog that will fetch, as they are just too keen for that! They like a very dedicated owner, and will provide dedication and love in return to their owner and family. Like any dog, especially a terrier, puppies can be destructive and must be crated or penned when their owner is not present until proper discipline can be taken. DISCIPLINE-is not punishment, it is a balance of punishment and reward. It is a must with any terrier-a good balance. Healthwise, parents must be tested for vWD. If you have more questions, post them here.
