i dont know what it is about this big old rock they have in their front yard but every time i take daisy out to go potty she runs barking her head off like she is going to attack sometihng (lol) and its that darn rock the next door neighbors have in their front yard. normally she will come back to me when i yell at her to come back but she ignores me and runs twards the rock never going all the way to the rock but still over in the neighbors yard. bentley runs after her nipping at her to bring her back to our yard. hes like a mothering hen with daisy and seems to help me out with her when she takes off he will run after her and he does nip at her to bring her back isnt that werid? but its very helpful..lol what should i do? should i take her over to the rock and show her its a rock and it isnt a dog or sometihng? im about to the point to put her on a leash when we go out side so she doesnt run itno their yard. they are very nice ppl hes a state trooper and im sure he doesnt mind but i dont want her to get in this habbit of every time she goes out to run to into their yard. bentley has never done this and doesnt leave our yard. she doenst go to the other neighbors which have the newfie and a lab and they sit there and bark at my dogs every time we come out but they have the invisable fencing which is nice . i dont worry about them attacking my small dogs but i worry daisy will try to go over there when they bark at her. she is very sassy and barks back at them- bentley doesnt. she doesnt bark over there at night when she cant see this rock- only during the day. and its every time i bring her out this past week shes ran right over there barking her head off and then she will come back or bentley brings her back as im walking over to get her. why is she doing this? its a rock...lol she is so silly- but it would be very embarsing if they were out and seen my dog keep going in their yard. they have a beagle i think even tho i never see it out side never even once- they must take it out the back or something because ive never seen it in their front yard. any advice? theresa oh ya merry christmas to you all.
Your dog should NEVER be outside off leash! Period. She can just as easily run off or out into the street as she is getting into someone elses yard. And your neighbors should not have to put up with her coming over there.
no i dont leash my dogs and never have. up untill a week ago my dogs stayed in my yard. i go out with them every time they go out. and i walk with them. we live on a private road . and we have 2.5 acres and plently of room for them to run and play. our house sits on top of a hill and we are like a 1/2 mile even from private road at the bottom of our drive way . my dogs would never get hit by a car. all the neighbors out here walk their dog with no leashes. there are 7 homes out here and all but 3 have dogs.
i really dont think at all the neighbor minds in the least that daisy has ran over to the side of his yard. she never runs all the way in it just on the side of the boarder of trees and stands there and barks and then she will come right back or bentley will go nip at her to bring her back and im right there also bringing her back. the troopers dog has been in my yard more then my dog has been in his yard . he has a beagle and i hardly ever see the thing but when i hae its been in our yard and hes over looking for it- plus i see his dogs poop in my yard. his dog got sick a few weeks ago and he called us to see what daisy ended up having ( we were talking with him when we got her and how sick she was ) he said his dog was sick and wanted to know if it was what daisy had. it wasnt by the symtpms but my hubby said he was sorry if his dog did get it from ours and he said no hes sorry his dog is the one in our yard- at this time my dogs were never in his yard.
im going to talk to burt ( the neighbor) and see if he minds that i take daisy down to the rock and show her- im not just going to walk into his yard- buit im sure he woudnt mind at all- they are very nice ppl. and maybe once she sees what this rock is she will stop barking at it- like i said they both have always stayed in the yard. bentley doesnt even go chasing daisy out of the yard he brings her back to the yard. he just knows he cant go out of the yard. we are in the spring we are fencing our back yard so the dogs can run and play. so i cant wait for that.
yes, im going to take daisy down to met the rock tomorrow. hubby talked to the neighbor which siad of coase we can come down and met the rock..lol he thinks its pretty funny also. at night she dont see it so she doesnt bark at it- only during the day. today tho she did pretty well i was right on top of her and she tried to head over past the trees but she went just alitlte bit over and barked like crazy but came right back it was like she was telling it off or something- its very funny to watch tho even tho she looks crazy out there barking her head off at this big old rock.
so im thinking if i take her down there to see it close up she will see it isnt going to attack her or what ever she thinks it is-
i will let you know how the meeting goes tomorrow..hehe you never know they could end up to be good freinds.. lol
tapettyjohn, if you don't have voice control over your dog, I dont care if you live on a private road, she needs to be on a leash. I live on a private road, but I have some neighbors who live on the same road.. and one of them backed over an unleashed puppy belonging to another. The pup's owner never imagined the pup would get run over in a neighborhood, but I know the pup had gotten behind my car before as well and being so small it was virtually impossible to see. Luckily I did see the neighbors trying to get my attention before I could back over the thing.
My point is, you just don't know what can happen. And if you can't call her back to you reliably then she doesn't need to be off a leash.
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
