I was coming back from store and I saw this van slowed down in front of me and I was like "Why is this guy going so slow" and I was going like 35mph and the next thing I see is a dog running at side of my bumper next to my wheel... The worst sound ever
It looked like a puppy it was maybe a year old, it was black and it had white spot under neck, the paws were white.
Anyways I couldn't just leave it there so I did a U turn to go see it and it wasen't on the street. I look and the guy in van stoped and took the dog off the street and so I parked and went to see if he was ok. The guy in van said he came out of nowhere and that he hit him... I was like "umm I hit him too"
So the van hit the dog and the dog went under the van, the dog got up and started running towards the sidewalk as I came and hit him, thats my thiory.
The dog was howling and it didn't look hurt badly besides its jaw hanging and the blood. They called 9-1-1 and they told them that they couldn't do anything. So some lady parks and she says she saw the dog laying there and she wanted to help so she said she would take it to the animal hospital. The dog wanted to play... it was trying to play with me even tho its hurt. I set him in the ladys backseat that she put towels under. The dog will be fine I think, we couldn't find out who the owner was at the scene but i'm pretty sure their gonna find out. Just hope the dog will be fine. At least he didn't go under my wheel.
At least you stopped and checked on him and didn't hit him on purpose. My ******* neighbor hit our cat tonight and my hubby said he heard his truck rev up to do it too. He is such an idiot. Our cat was just on the side of our yard and the side of the road. Hubby had to break it to the girls which was so hard. My oldest felt like it was her fault since she had just let him out about 5 min. before that.
I am sending well wishes to the little guy that he recovers and they find his owners.
I've hit a coyote and a couple of rabbits before and it is the worst sound ever. As much as I hate rabbits and coyotes, it freaked me out and I screamed. You did the right thing to stop and see that he was okay. I hate when people hit em and leave em half dead on the road.
thank you for stopping and making sure the dog was ok. i saw a dog get hit by a SUV a couple weeks back, and he was hurt bad. the woman who hit him came back and i stopped too. it's so upsetting... it was good of you to check on the dog. i'm glad it was ok.
Yeah I had to go back... I wouldn't be able to sleep ever if I didn't thats just cruel if you accidently hit something and not go back to see if its dead or alive. Even if its dead at least you know it won't be hurt really bad and die slowly.

I remember when I used to ride the school bus. and one time the bus driver hit a dog and it freeked me and the rest of the kids out and the dogs owner saw it and she told my bus driver that it was bound to happen.....ummmmm..... now if that was my dog I wouldn't have been like that!! it made me soooo mad because she wasn't sad about the loss of her pet at all. I didn't like or trust that bus driver because she also ran over a dear and a fawn(they were just fine) but it's scary.
but don't worry about hitting the dog, it's probably just fine and happy. and plus things happen. I know that's mean but true. if it was ment for the dog to get hit by a car then it was just ment to happen nothing could have stopped it. plus if it was a stray then you probably saved it by hitting it so that it could go to a animal hospital and there for giving it a home. so in a strange way you probably saved it!!
I am so sorry for you! I know how that feels a few weeks ago I hit a possum It actually ran towards my tires, cos I had swerved to go to the left as it was travelling to the right side of the road. I made this huge crescent to avoid hitting it and it turned around and came at my tires fast and I ran right over him(I felt awful!!!! I still remember it in detail cos I have never hit anything in31 years of driving!I am sure it became frightened and confused as there was fog and though I was going slower than usual I couldn't stop in time.I know it died and I tried to go back and check it but other cars were driving up fast towards that spot so I couldn't cause an accident and had to move on. I have picked up and actually put dead animals in garbage bags for the WM to pick up on our street when idiots going way too fast hit poor lil animals!
Heather: why do you hate coyotes and rabbits? I know they tend to wanna rule the road in the country, but it's cos they don't adapt well to encroachmentso many developers keep putting subdivisions in places where they shouldn't and then disclaim responsibility for anything happening. and do not care about encroachment into wildlife habitat. I just wish people would not be allowed to build subdivisions in the country or wildlife areas

for me I don't really like cyotes because they attack out steers and they attack our cats. but I don't hate them because if they didn't come arround our property then there would be too many little critters or what not. but I love little bunnys I have about 3 wild cotton tails in the bak yard and I give them leftover bread and stuff like that and they in return keep the grass in check. I think that they are not bad at all but that's just me. we all have different opinions.
