yeah i have heard of all pups of a little being breeched...well, see i found her while the pups head was still inside and the stomach half way out, so i don't know how long she was like that, but it was already dead when i found her, she was having a real hard time pushing it out, finally i grabed a towel and pulled it out, but i don't know how long the puppy was like that, so it suficated, i'm guessing. ;(
it turned out the he has a REALLY REALLY bad virus. i found him in the kitchen one night surrended by the foulest smelling diareah ever. (sorry for the visual) and he was throwing up and/or dry heaving all the way to the vet. His poop was a really bright yellow color.
no we haven't tooken her yet we have a scheduled appo. in the morning, the breech puppy was the first one, then she had the other two after... everything went fine. whats the reason some come breeched?
I BELIEVE some are breech from turning around while in the birth canale (sp). The puppy may have been th walres pup. it is the biggest pup and most the time they don't make it. My friends shih-tzu had pups the first one was the walres and didn't make it :(
I would love to see pics i had a one before we gave him to my moms friend they had pups whith there dasand (sp) and we later got mom, dad, and pups (sad faimly accident :(.
They are like little hot dogs :)

what color are your daschunds? we have 2 black and tan, 1 chocolate, 1 dapple and the 2 pups which are a pibald blonde, and a tan...i'll probably be posting them today or tonight when i can get some batteries for the camera... thanks for the info on the breech puppy
dogs give birth in breech position because the position is natural one for dogs... When the pups are in the uterine horn before being born, they can be turned head first or butt first, they can even share placentas wtihout being twins, and often times the puppies will wiggle and shift position while in the uterus.. It's just normal canine psyiology.
With humans, (as anyone who's been pregannt will tell you) the baby will move all around in the uterus throughout the pregnancy, sometimes they will be head up, butt down, some times doing headstands and sometimes elbowing you in the bladder and ribcage. It's just with humans, ,during hte last month of pregnancy, the baby will shift in the mother's body to the head down position that is normal and prefered in human birth. Children born breech in humans before recent medical advances usually died... as did the mothers.
Dogs are genetically predisposed to have litters, relatively quick births even for large litters where the puppies are delivered quickly enough that it makes no difference how they are positioned when they come out.
So why is it normal for dogs to give birth in breech position? Because it is.
