How many parakeets are in the cage together? Did the eggs all appear overnight? If so, likely you have more than one female in there. Birds generally lay one egg every other day until the clutch is complete. Are you sure one of them is a male?
do you know how to tell the difference between a male and female??
males have a blueish cere(the part with the nostrils) a female has a brown one also if your budgies are young it will be hard to tell for sure
If the eggs are broken, they are no good. Also if you are positive that you have a male and female and want babies then I would suggest buying a nesting box (try looking at pet stores) and buy a nesting disk so they can make a suitable nest.
FYI Rescuepup - If the eggs are broken, they will not be any good. A chick would not be able to grow in an un-sterile condition. The cracks would allow germs / microbes to enter the egg, thus killing the keet.
Also, parakeets do NOT lay more than one egg per day, so there is no way that this is a pair of parakeets. It just does not happen.
In the late 20th century, the popularity of keeping birds as companions resulted in a smuggling business based in Central America. It proved devastating to wild bird populations, and many birds who were caught died during transport or soon after. The Wild Bird Conservation Act stemmed the flow of birds into the U.S. (although it is still a problem in other countries), but breeding operations have perpetuated the myth that baby birds will grow up to become great companions and have also allowed consumer demand to continue. Just as there are puppy mills, there are bird factories, where breeders warehouse hundreds or thousands of nondomesticated birds for their offspring.
Okay I will help with this problem. Budgies only lay one egg every other day. It takes 22 days for the eggs to hatch. Chances are they will only lay eggs when they are fertilized. If the eggs are cracked there is no hope of saving them. Im an expert budgie breeder, so you can trust me. Ive been doing this for 5 years. To avoid this happening again, you can buy a nest box at the pet store. you will have to put it on the inside of the cage. They can lay up to 6 eggs at a time, and can breed up to twice a year. Male keets have a blue fleshy area above thier beaks during the breeding season, and females have brown so you'll knnow when youve got a pair.
