My female schnauzer has ugly iron stains on her beard and I want to try and get rid of it.
I can't change her food, this food is specific for her digestive system, and I just bought a water bottle system that is suspended on a post for them to drink from. I read that plastic containers can exaserbate the problem.
HEY.... Check out a search for bottlebabies and see for yourself, this system looks pretty cool. The lady is in RENO and I was going to try and make my own but now I don't have to.....
I am going to change water they drink to bottled as I also read that tap water can cause staining.
So is there anything I can do grooming wise to help this? What is the best whitening shampoo on the market? Is there a way to bleach it that won't harm her and work quickly?
There is that product called angel something that you add tot he food, it is for eye stains but I'm not sure about the saliva. In grooming I will sometimes wash the beard well, dry it and use a whilte chaulk, I rub it into the beard and then gently brush it in. It is usually available in grooming/show type shops.Where are you located?
As a groomer I use products from pet edge, and they have the chalk there that has been mentioned.....to help with the beard problem, use a whiteing shampoo on that area, eye stain cleaner also works pretty well to control the problem just soak a cotton ball and dab it on her beard a coupl of times a day....
I have six miniature schnauzers and I use it on them all the time., you might also try keeping the bottom jaw of her beard trimmed shorter.
